About the role Be the electrical engineering authority at a company whose devices genuinely change lives.

A well-established medical device company in south Houston is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to own board-level electronics design across a varied portfolio of real programs. With 25+ years bringing devices to market across neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics and diagnostics, including a system later acquired by a major medical-device company, they build active medical devices and also provide product development consulting. No two projects look the same. Current work includes a new generation of wearables aimed at turning serious diagnoses into conditions patients can live with for longer.

You won't be one engineer handed a slice of a project. You'll own designs end to end, from schematic through to a compliant, manufacturable product. You'll work directly with the CEO and build out the electrical function (libraries, methods and standards) as the team grows.

Why you'll want this role

  • Real ownership of whole programs, not just fragments.
  • A chance to build the electrical function and standards as the team scales.
  • Genuine variety, with a steady pipeline of different devices and challenges.
  • Work that matters, reaching operating rooms and patients.
  • Direct access to leadership, with fast decisions and minimal bureaucracy.

Responsibilities

  • Design analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits for active medical devices and client projects.
  • Produce schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium.
  • Develop low-power, battery-powered designs around a microprocessor, with strong signal integrity.
  • Collaborate with firmware and embedded teams to integrate hardware and software.
  • Drive EMC / EMI and IEC 60601 compliance, including testing and documentation.
  • Lead designs through verification, validation and the move to manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Senior-level, end-to-end board design experience (8+ years).
  • Strong PCB and circuit design; Altium preferred.
  • Expert analog, digital and mixed-signal design, plus low-power, microprocessor-based hardware.
  • Background in a regulated, paperwork-heavy industry (medical, aerospace, defense, industrial or energy; open on sector).
  • EMC / EMI / compliance experience; IEC 60601 a plus.
  • Able to reliably commute to, or relocate to, Houston, TX 77045 before starting (required). Fully on-site.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
