Job Description Job Title: Senior Electronics Design Engineer Job Location: Brno Job Function: R&D Physics / Electronics / Mechanical design Education level: Bachelor's Degree Required Travel: 0 - 10% Design electronics that help scientists see what others cannot At Tescan, we develop advanced electron microscopes and scientific instruments used by researchers and technology companies around the world. As our Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will take ownership of complex electronic subsystems at the heart of these instruments. Your work will bring together high-speed digital design, precision analog electronics, data acquisition, power management and FPGA-based hardware. This is a hands-on role where you will turn demanding technical challenges into reliable hardware - from the first concept and schematic through board bring-up and validation to a working instrument. You will have the independence to shape your solutions while working closely with an experienced electronics team and experts across Tescan. What You’ll Do Design analog and digital electronic circuits for advanced scientific instruments. Take independent ownership of complex hardware subsystems, including planning and organising your own technical work. Translate broad technical challenges into clear requirements and practical electronic solutions. Design board-level hardware incorporating high-performance processors, FPGA devices, high-speed memory, ADCs, DACs and communication interfaces. Create schematics, contribute to key PCB and layout decisions, and perform prototype validation and troubleshooting. Work closely with experts in physics, mechanics, firmware, software, manufacturing and systems engineering. Apply high-speed design, EMC and electrical safety principles, Design for Manufacturing and other best engineering practices. Influence technical decisions within larger R&D projects and propose improvements or new technical solutions. Share your expertise and, where needed, help less experienced colleagues to grow. What You’ll Bring High-speed digital design expertise You have practical experience designing electronic circuits involving several of the following: PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet; high-speed RAM; high-performance ARM-based processors or MPUs; FPGA-based hardware, for example Artix, Agilex or comparable devices; high-speed or multichannel ADCs and DACs; signal and power integrity, controlled impedance and high-speed PCB layout constraints. Independent technical ownership Formal education in electrical engineering according to Czech law (NV 194/2022) The ability to independently plan and deliver complex hardware work from requirements through testing and validation. A structured approach to solving complex technical problems. Experience with schematic capture, PCB design, simulation and electronic measurement tools, such as Altium, OrCAD, PSpice, KiCAD etc. Confidence communicating and collaborating in English. A willingness to share knowledge and support a colleague’s technical development. Broader electronics expertise In addition to high-speed digital design, you bring experience in at least one complementary area, such as, but not limitted to: power supplies, voltage or current regulation and power management; precision analog electronics and signal conditioning, analog signal amplification, filtering and anti-aliasing; sensor interfaces and data acquisition; communication interfaces such as SPI, RS-232 or RS-485; electrical competency in accordance with GD194/2022 is an advantage. If you do not currently hold it, we will support you in obtaining it. What Tescan Can Offer You The opportunity to design technically unique electronics used in advanced scientific instruments. Genuine ownership – you will see your solution develop from a schematic into a working part of an electron microscope. Complex technical challenges combining high-speed digital, analog electronics, physics, mechanics, firmware and software. A highly experienced team where your expertise and technical opinion will be valued. Financial bonuses and flexible benefits worth up to CZK 24,000 per year through Benefit Plus. Five weeks of vacation, two sick days and one volunteering day. Meal allowance, mobile plan, language courses and free coffee. A workplace surrounded by forest in Brno, with relocation support available where needed. Interested? Send us your CV.
