Job Description Summary
As a key member of the Stability Analysis Team, you will perform safety analyses focused on plant thermal-hydraulic stability, plant noise, Power Range Neutron Monitor (PRNM) stability interfaces, and related reactor safety evaluations. These analyses support reload applications and operational needs for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fleets, including currently operating plants and advanced reactor designs such as the BWRX-300 deployed or planned worldwide.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform plant thermal-hydraulic (T-H) stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface evaluations, and other safety analyses utilizing two-phase thermal-hydraulic analysis techniques.
- Lead fuel project activities, including reload analyses, stability methods implementation, new fuel design and introduction, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
- Collaborate across disciplines with teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and other affiliated organizations to develop optimal customer solutions.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with project managers, technical personnel, and customers on technical matters.
- Support interactions with regulatory agencies to facilitate stability methodology approvals.
- Prepare, document, and present technical analyses and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical mentoring, procedure development support, and knowledge management activities to strengthen Stability Analysis staff capabilities.
- Develop and deliver technical training programs that support knowledge transfer, workforce development, and continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency, speed, and simplification.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality and in compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and Quality Assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in nuclear plant thermal-hydraulic stability analysis and methodology development.
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Nuclear Engineering with experience in thermal-hydraulic modeling of nuclear reactor systems.
- Experience with BWR technologies, including ABWR and ESBWR designs, performing thermal-hydraulic stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface evaluations, stability setpoint methodology development, and frequency/time-domain analyses in support of regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with BWR simulators, 3-D neutron kinetics tools (e.g., PANAC), and thermal-hydraulic system codes such as TRACG, TRACE, and RELAP for reactor stability and safety analysis applications.
- Knowledge of plant operational support activities and reactor licensing requirements related to stability analysis.
- Programming experience in C#, FORTRAN, Python, or similar technical computing languages.
- High-energy, collaborative team player who builds trust, motivates others, and fosters strong working relationships.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of key technical areas, with a proven ability to simplify complex challenges and make timely, data-driven decisions.
