- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, procurement analytics or supply risk management, with at least 3 years focused on market intelligence, cost management or risk, ideally at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, AI lab or AI infrastructure company.
- Hands-on experience sourcing or analyzing HPC and data center hardware: GPUs and accelerators, servers, storage, networking and optics, including CM/ODM/JDM supply chains.
- Strong background in interpreting and acting on market intelligence across hyperscaler and neocloud technology supply chains, including pricing, lead time, capacity and allocation signals and silicon and platform roadmaps.
- Experience building and running a supplier risk program: risk register, scoring model, financial-health and concentration monitoring, and mitigation planning.
- Experience designing a cost savings methodology or cost management framework from the ground up, including total-cost-of-ownership and should-cost models, savings definitions and cost-variance reporting, and rolling it out to a sourcing team you did not manage.
- Experience in cost management and negotiation support, using should-cost and benchmark data to challenge supplier pricing and shape negotiation plans.
- Working knowledge of tariffs, export controls and sanctions as they apply to compute and networking hardware.
- Clear executive writing and presentation skills, with a track record of influencing sourcing, finance, legal and operations stakeholders without direct authority.
Other important requirements
- Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.
- This role requires willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier and vendor sites, data centers, implementation partner locations, and industry events. IREN does not yet have an office in the Bay Area (a Santa Clara office is planned); until it opens, this role will work remotely, transitioning to hybrid on-site work once the office is established.
- Build and maintain IREN's HPC hardware market intelligence base, covering industry trends, pricing, lead times, capacity, allocation, etc. Partner with stakeholders to provide actionable insights and recommendations based on market intelligence.
- Publish a monthly market brief and quarterly category outlooks that Technical Sourcing, Hardware Procurement, Planning and Finance use to time buys, set budgets and plan builds.
- Track tariffs, export controls and trade policy affecting compute and networking hardware and quantify the cost and schedule impact.
- Develop and maintain the supply chain risk framework for HPC hardware: identify, score and track risks across suppliers, categories, geographies and programs. Partner with stakeholders to provide actionable insights and recommendations based on risk assessments.
- Run supplier financial-health and concentration monitoring, including single- and sole-source exposure and sub-tier dependencies.
- Support risk assessments for new strategic suppliers and major awards, and develop mitigation plans (dual sourcing, buffer stock, contractual protections, alternates) with the category owner.
- Build and test the supply disruption response playbook: early-warning triggers, escalation path, decision rights and communication.
- Develop, in partnership with Technical Sourcing, and maintain the cost management framework for HPC hardware: total-cost-of-ownership and should-cost models by category, the price benchmarks they draw on, and the rules for what counts as a saving, avoidance or cost increase.
- Partner with Technical Sourcing to program manage the development of a cost savings methodology and maintain the data inputs and framework for cost.
- Produce the risk, market and cost sections of the monthly supply chain scorecard and the quarterly review for the executive team and board.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Systems SMEs to build tools, dashboards, and AI-based solutions to report across risk, market intelligence, and cost.
