• Role: Senior Marine Engineer
• Work location: Rotterdam, the Netherlands – hybrid

• Duration: Six months to one year
• Contract: Employment contract or freelance assignment
• Language: English; Dutch is an advantage
• Focus: Marine auxiliary systems and ship outfitting for naval and complex maritime projects
• Due to the military nature of the project, only EU citizens will be considered.

If your background is in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or naval architecture, this Senior Marine Engineer position offers responsibility for the complete engineering process. You will develop and integrate marine systems while coordinating technical interfaces, suppliers, and verification activities. The role is based within an international, English-speaking environment, with a hybrid working arrangement. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to the Netherlands.

Where You’ll Work

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on naval vessels and other complex maritime projects. The engineering scope covers marine auxiliary systems and ship outfitting, from concept and detailed design through supplier coordination, verification and testing.

You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, structural and control engineers, as well as suppliers, clients and classification societies. Projects must comply with applicable class rules, statutory regulations, client standards and military requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Develop concepts and detailed designs for fuel, cooling, HVAC, compressed-air, exhaust-gas, seawater and firefighting systems.
• Translate contractual, operational and client requirements into system designs, calculations, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, calculations, assessments and other engineering deliverables.
• Manage mechanical, electrical, structural, control and spatial interfaces throughout the ship design.
• Apply applicable class rules, statutory regulations and client standards, including DNV, ABS, SOLAS and MARPOL requirements.
• Define technical requirements for procurement, evaluate supplier proposals and resolve technical deviations and clarifications.
• Coordinate verification, validation and testing activities, including design reviews, FAT, HAT and sea trials.
• Act as a senior technical contact, monitor risks and progress, review work prepared by others and coach junior and medior engineers.
