Triumphant Nerd is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who likes designing precision motion systems and getting them running in the lab. You’ll build the automated machines our client uses to make optical waveguides for augmented reality, from the stages that position each part to the tools that measure it.
You’ll spend about 60% of your time on design and 40% in the lab. You might work through a fixture design with a machinist, assemble a multi-axis stage, then team up with a software engineer to test whether it moves as precisely as the optics require.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience designing custom machinery and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Hands-on experience taking a complete machine from concept through fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing.
- Experience integrating precision mechanisms, actuators, and motion systems into automated equipment.
- Strong 3D CAD skills. Creo is preferred. SolidWorks or NX experience is also welcome.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturing and assembly.
- Experience with robotics, optics, semiconductor equipment, or micron- or nanometer-scale measurement is a PLUS.
- Full-time, onsite in Austin.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
- Annual base salary up to $185K.
- Relocation assistance of up to $15K in reimbursed moving expenses.
If you’ve designed a machine and helped bring it to life in the lab, I’d love to hear what you built. Let’s connect!
