You’ll play a key role in defining modern .NET and Microsoft Azure solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, maintainable and aligned with wider business objectives.

The Opportunity

As Software Architect, you’ll take ownership of solution-level architecture across new software development initiatives. You’ll work closely with product, project and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, while providing architectural leadership to development teams.

The role offers the opportunity to work with modern Microsoft technologies, including Azure PaaS, and to influence the evolution of software platforms within a complex enterprise environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Make architectural decisions covering scalability, performance, security, resilience, maintainability and accessibility.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into practical, scalable software solutions.
  • Lead architectural discussions with product managers, project managers, developers, technical leads and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and promote software architecture standards, patterns and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Review designs and code to ensure solutions adhere to agreed architectural and engineering standards.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies and challenges, developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks and tools in line with the wider technology strategy.
  • Contribute to the software development roadmap and support proof-of-concept initiatives where appropriate.
  • Support development teams with complex technical issues and troubleshooting when required.
  • Mentor and coach developers and other technical team members, helping to raise engineering capability.
  • Ensure software development and implementation align with organisational standards and governance.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a strong .NET/Azure technical architect with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex software solutions in an enterprise environment.

Essential experience

  • Extensive commercial experience with C#, .NET Framework and modern .NET.
  • Strong practical experience designing and developing solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong understanding of Azure PaaS services and cloud development patterns.
  • Proven experience designing complex, scalable and maintainable software systems.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns, development principles and engineering best practices.
  • Experience with SQL Server and Entity Framework.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and API-led integration.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and modern software delivery practices.
  • Familiarity with SonarQube and code-quality practices.
  • Experience considering non-functional requirements (NFRs) including performance, security, scalability and resilience.
  • Awareness of accessibility standards and their application within software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and influence stakeholders at different levels.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to software development teams.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS and jQuery.
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise or transformation programmes.
  • Experience establishing or evolving software architecture standards and governance.
  • Experience with proof-of-concept development and technology evaluation.

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a significant technology transformation environment where you'll have genuine scope to influence architecture, shape technical direction and work on complex enterprise solutions.
