Senior Product Developer

Pas Normal Studios

Is this job info correct?

The role

You own an assigned product category from design handover through to production release. You translate design intent into a manufacturable specification - material and component selection, construction and tolerances - then validate it through prototyping, laboratory and wear testing, and cost engineering before releasing it to Production. You act as the primary interface between Pas Normal Studios and our product suppliers on all development matters

Responsibilities

Product development

  • Own end-to-end development for your assigned categories, from design handover through prototyping, testing, final approval and production handover.
  • Translate design intent into executable product specifications, advising Design on workmanship, materials, fit and finish and proposing alternatives when required.
  • Define measurable product performance targets and the tests needed to validate them.
  • Create and maintain accurate tech packs and BOMs in PLM, keeping CADs, measurements, specifications and component data aligned.
  • Identify product and manufacturing risks early and put corrective actions in place before prototyping.
  • Specify print and trim artwork, including measurements, placement and durability requirements.
  • Approve final samples, BOMs and test documentation before handover to Production.
  • Present your categories at milestone and range reviews and support your decisions with clear evidence.

Materials and colour

  • Work with the cross functional teams to ensure fabrics, trims and components are validated and approved in time for prototyping.
  • Own colour approval and consistency across your categories, including lab dips and seasonal colour records.
  • Ensure colour standards remain consistent across products and seasons.

Suppliers

  • Act as the primary development contact for product suppliers, ensuring specifications are clearly understood and executable.
  • Issue complete and accurate specifications, BOMs and updates so development converges in fewer prototype rounds.
  • Guide suppliers on our construction and performance standards and resolve manufacturing issues at root cause.
  • Support Production and Quality in assessing factory capability against product requirements.
  • Develop supplier capability where it falls short rather than designing around manufacturing limitations.
  • Build long-term supplier relationships that improve quality, lead time and cost.

Cost

  • Develop products to agreed target cost and margin.
  • Request and analyse cost breakdowns from first factory prototypes ahead of milestone reviews.
  • Recommend materials and constructions that improve margin without compromising product intent or performance.
  • Assess the cost implications of material substitutions and construction changes with Design, Materials and Product Management.
  • Identify MOQ, tooling and other commercial constraints early in development.

Calendar and process

  • Manage your categories against the seasonal development calendar and milestone dates.
  • Ensure complete handover information is received from Design and that subsequent changes are captured and communicated.
  • Keep prototyping, testing and product reviews on schedule and flag risks or delays early.
  • Hand over complete and accurate product information to Production for commercialisation.
  • Review and approve product claims made by Marketing, ensuring they can be supported by evidence.

Performance validation and innovation

  • Create test protocols for your categories across controlled wear and field testing, defining pass criteria before testing begins.
  • Gather structured feedback from riders, teams and ambassadors and translate it into product improvements.
  • Benchmark products against competitors and previous seasons and quantify differences in performance.
  • Identify and evaluate new construction methods and manufacturing techniques before introducing them into a season.
  • Contribute market, technical and trend insight from supplier visits and trade shows.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in product development in cycling apparel or performance apparel, ideally in an international organisation.
  • A degree in fashion design, textile engineering, product development or similar — or equivalent experience.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of fabric properties, garment construction and manufacturing processes for performance apparel.
  • Ability to write and maintain your own tech packs and BOMs in a PLM system.
  • Experience approving lab dips and managing colour consistency across a range.
  • Ability to read a cost breakdown and negotiate on it.
  • Fluent English and experience working with suppliers across time zones.
  • Ability to run several categories at once against fixed calendar deadlines.

What we offer

  • Full ownership of your categories in a design-led brand with a short decision-making chain.
  • Office in Copenhagen, with teams across Europe, the US and Asia. This is an on-site role.
  • Travel of roughly 10–15% to suppliers and trade shows.
  • Competitive salary, product allowance, lunch scheme, gym, and Wednesday rides in winter.
  • Relocation support if you are moving to Denmark.

How and when to apply

Please send your CV and cover letter no later than September 15.

We will review and react to applications as they are received. All inquiries are treated confidentially.
