As a Psychiatrist at CoreCivic, you’ll do more than prescribe and diagnose. You’ll guide a team, mentor staff, and help shape policy. You’ll provide direct care, participate in civil commitment proceedings, and ensure that every patient receives the dignity and attention they deserve. You’ll also have the chance to:
Lead and coordinate mental health services across the facility
Provide individual, group, and family counseling
Supervise and support mental health staff
Monitor psychotropic medications and treatment plans
Collaborate with medical and administrative teams

Help individuals understand and overcome emotional and social challenges

Key Responsibilities
Conduct
DSM diagnoses
, prescribe, and monitor
psychotropic medications
.
Provide
individual, group, and family counseling
for inmates/residents.
Lead and supervise
mental health services
, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Participate in
civil commitment proceedings
and discharge planning.
Oversee operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness in mental health programs.
Coordinate crisis management and participate in
anti-terrorism planning
.
Support
legal processes
related to correctional psychiatry.
Requirements
Qualifications & Must-Haves
Education:
Advanced degree in
Psychology or a related clinical field
, with applicable
certification/licensure
.
Experience:
Five years of clinical experience
, including
two years in a comparable position
.
Licensing:
Must be a
licensed/certified psychiatrist
, or willing to obtain
Kansas licensure
.
Valid Driver’s License:
Required.
