Is this job info correct?

Across the American interior, hyperscale and colocation programs are being built at a speed and scale that few construction markets have ever sustained, on campuses measured in hundreds of megawatts, against schedules set by the operators rather than the builders, and the discipline that holds the whole thing steady, the pricing, forecasting and control of cost from feasibility to final account, is the scarcest commodity on site.

Our client is a global construction consultancy with a deep bench in mission-critical work, and it is expanding its cost management teams in the United States. The practice works to a chartered standard and expects the numbers to be right the first time. Visa sponsorship and relocation support are available where needed. Assignments follow the pipeline, so a willingness to go where the work is matters as much as the technical record.

Responsibilities

  • Own cost from early estimating and benchmarking through procurement, change control and final account.
  • Interrogate contractor and subcontractor pricing, with close attention to the mechanical and electrical packages that carry most of the value.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and risk registers that give the client a reliable view of the position.
  • Run valuations, variations and settlement, usually under guaranteed maximum price arrangements.
  • Test value engineering options with the design and construction teams, and hold the budget through design development.
  • At senior manager level, lead a small team of surveyors and hold a client account.

Requirements

  • A degree in quantity surveying, commercial management or a cognate construction discipline.
  • Chartered status through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or an equivalent body.
  • Roughly five to fifteen years in cost management, at senior surveyor, manager or senior manager level.
  • Experience delivering data centers, or comparable mission-critical work such as pharmaceutical, semiconductor or large process facilities.
  • Fluency in mechanical and electrical cost.
  • Willingness to relocate for the assignment.
