Job Description Summary

Global Team Leader – Wind Turbine Controls, SCADA & Modeling Projects

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Global Team Leader to lead the execution of a portfolio of projects involving customization, modification, and upgrades of wind-turbine control systems, SCADA, power-up/commissioning activities, and turbine modeling.

This role is primarily focused on project and team leadership, ensuring that complex technical projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and customer expectations.

The Team Leader will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, establish project priorities, manage resources and risks, and provide clear communication to internal and external stakeholders. The role requires sufficient technical understanding of wind-turbine controls, SCADA, software, and modeling to effectively manage engineering activities required for execution and make informed project decisions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead a portfolio of global projects related to wind-turbine controls, SCADA, power-up, commissioning, modeling, customizations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Lead a team to define and execute project objectives, scope, milestones, deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Drive projects from commercial handoff through engineering definition, implementation, commissioning, and final delivery.
  • Coordinate team to execute multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities, available resources, customer commitments, and business objectives.
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and deliverables across project team.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively address schedule, resource, technical, commercial, and quality issues.
  • Ensure projects follow established project-management, engineering, quality, and change-management processes.

Resource & Team Management

  • Lead a global team of project managers supporting controls, SCADA, power-up, and modeling projects.
  • Balance resources across competing projects and changing business priorities.
  • Identify resource constraints and escalate staffing or capability gaps before they impact project delivery.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and knowledge sharing.
  • Build effective collaboration across functional teams resulting in efficient project execution

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Establish project priorities based on customer commitments, business impact, technical dependencies, and available resources.
  • Lead regular project reviews to track progress, identify deviations, and establish corrective actions.
  • Ensure dependencies between controls software, SCADA, modeling, testing, commissioning, and field activities are clearly understood and managed by the project management team.
  • Drive timely decision-making and resolution of project issues.
  • Ensure project documentation, approvals, testing, and release activities are completed according to established processes.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as key point of contact for escalations for internal and external stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Manage expectations regarding scope, schedule, technical requirements, and project risks.
  • Lead project status meetings and communicate progress, risks, decisions, and actions to customers and senior management.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, service, sales, product management, operations, commissioning, and other global organizations.
  • Ensure customer concerns are identified early and addressed through structured project-management processes.

Risk, Change & Issue Management

  • Establish and maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Identify potential schedule, technical, resource, cost, quality, and customer risks at an early stage.
  • Lead structured problem-solving and escalation for critical project issues.
  • Manage changes to project scope, requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Ensure changes are evaluated for their impact on cost, schedule, resources, technical risk, and customer commitments before implementation.
  • Drive lessons learned and incorporate improvements into future projects.

Schedule & Delivery Management

  • Own overall project delivery and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Identify critical-path activities and intervene when milestones are at risk.
  • Coordinate activities between office-based engineering teams and field/commissioning organizations.
  • Establish recovery plans for projects that deviate from the approved schedule.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project predictability and on-time delivery.

Technical Project Oversight

  • Provide project-level technical leadership without necessarily serving as the primary technical engineer.
  • Maintain a strong working understanding of wind-turbine controls, control code, SCADA, power-up/commissioning, and turbine modeling.
  • Ensure technical teams clearly understand project objectives, requirements, constraints, and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate technical decisions and escalate complex issues to the appropriate subject-matter experts.
  • Ensure technical solutions are appropriately tested, validated, documented, and released.
  • Support prioritization of technical work based on project impact and customer requirements.

Financial & Business Management

  • Support development and management of project budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project costs and resource utilization against approved plans.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support commercial teams with technical scope definition, estimates, change requests, and customer negotiations.
  • Ensure project execution remains aligned with business objectives and contractual commitments.

Process Improvement

  • Establish and continuously improve standardized project-management processes for global controls and SCADA projects.
  • Develop project-management best practices, templates, reporting standards, and performance metrics.
  • Improve project visibility through effective dashboards, status reporting, and portfolio tracking.
  • Identify recurring project challenges and implement corrective actions at the organizational level.
  • Drive standardization and scalability across global engineering organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex engineering or technology projects.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong project-management skills, including scope, schedule, resource, risk, change, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or a project portfolio simultaneously.
  • Experience in wind energy, renewable energy, industrial automation, controls, SCADA, power systems, or a comparable technical industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering development and software/project delivery processes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior business leadership.
  • PMP, or equivalent project-management certification.
  • Experience with wind-turbine controls, SCADA, commissioning, power-up, or turbine modeling.
  • Experience managing customer-facing engineering projects.
  • Experience with project financial management, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Experience implementing project-management processes across global organizations.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $119,600.00 and $199,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
