Senior Tech UI Designer

We are looking for a Senior Tech UI Designer who will serve as the bridge between design and engineering, implementing UI systems in Unreal Engine with a focus on architecture rather than aesthetics. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical design and hands-on engineering, translating features and wireframes into scalable, production-ready UI systems.

Responsibilities

• Break down features and wireframes into the necessary widgets, structures and classes
• Design reusable, extendable widgets for use across multiple screens
• Lay out wireframes with the right widget classes so visual designers can start styling
• Prototype UX/Visual designs rapidly and translate design needs into technical requirements for programmers
• Ensure player input is correctly mapped, responsive, and delivers appropriate game feel
• Own UI performance, keeping within memory and CPU constraints, and profile the cost of UMG, Slate, C++ and texture memory without programmer help
• Write Blueprint logic for presentation behavior and consult UI engineers on what belongs in Blueprint versus native code
• Assist UI Artists with special presentation behavior
• Debug Blueprint/UMG issues quickly using fault-isolation techniques
• Contribute to documentation, organization and workflow improvements for UX, UI Art and UI engineering

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience as a UI Tech Designer, Technical UI Artist, or similar hybrid design/engineering role, ideally within games
• Hands-on experience working in Unreal Engine 5, including UMG, Slate and Blueprints, to build real, shipped UI screens and flows
• Understanding of style sheeting/style sets and how to apply them consistently across a large set of screens
• Experience designing and implementing navigation flows and screen-to-screen relationships in a live product
• Ability to work from a component/template library and assemble it into cohesive, production-quality experiences
• Problem-solving skills, particularly around complex, context-dependent navigation and state, such as scoped or contextual UI systems
• Understanding of UI performance considerations in real-time engines
• Collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely across art, UX, and engineering disciplines
• Capability to own ambiguous, foundational problems and drive them to a polished, shippable solution
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Experience building scoped or context-driven navigation systems, such as experiences that reconfigure based on a selected item, mode, or destination
• Familiarity with large-scale discovery/storefront UI patterns
• Blueprint scripting experience beyond basic UI wiring
