The Brand
Manière De Voir – French for "way of seeing" – is a $65M self-funded contemporary fashion brand. Profitable and growing at high double digits annually. No investors, no board, no committee.
Four owned retail locations, with a fifth opening – London (Oxford Street, Battersea, and Westfield White City opening), New York (SoHo Broadway), and Dubai (Dubai Mall) – with LA and Chicago in active development. Wholesale through Nordstrom and Farfetch. The rest is DTC.
The product is structured and architectural. No visible logos – the work speaks through silhouette and fabrication. Dresses are the growth engine: a 60-style annual range across four lanes, priced $220–$475.
The Role
When the product has no logo, fit is the brand. You make sure every garment lands exactly as designed – in every size, from every factory, every time.
You own the technical translation of design into production: specs, fit, grading, and construction standards from first proto to approved top-of-production.
Scope – What You'll Own
- Fit – Run live-model and form fittings, make the final fit call, and write clear, actionable fit comments to factories. Dress is the hero category.
- Tech packs and specs – Build and maintain tech packs, points of measure, grade rules, and tolerances from concept through bulk, for wovens, jersey, and knits.
- Blocks and standards – Create the MDV block library and construction standards so structured silhouettes stay consistent across seasons, sizes, and suppliers.
- Factory partnership – Work directly with overseas and nearshore factories to fix fit, construction, and quality issues at the root cause, not sample by sample.
- Returns intelligence – Use fit-related return reasons and customer feedback to correct patterns and specs before the next buy.
The Team
You report to the VP, Production & Supply Chain (a new role), and to the CEO until that hire joins. You partner daily with Design, Product Development, and Production, and set the technical standard the function grows around.
How You'll Be Measured
- Fit-related return rate on styles you approved, down season over season
- Fittings per style to approval, and samples on time to the calendar, with Product Development and Production
- First-time-right top-of-production approvals
- Size and factory consistency on core blocks
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years in technical design at a premium, contemporary, or luxury fashion brand
- Expert in women's wovens and dresses; tailoring and structured garments a strong plus
- You lead fittings and make confident final fit decisions
- Strong patternmaking, grading, and construction knowledge
- Fluent in PLM, Illustrator, and Excel; Gerber/AccuMark or CLO 3D a plus
- Based in New York City and ready to be on-site
Preferred
- Experience scaling a contemporary brand's technical function through rapid growth
- 3D fit and digital sampling (CLO 3D, Browzwear) in a production pipeline
- Knitwear and jersey alongside wovens
Why This Role Is Different
No inherited bureaucracy, no investor pressure. You rebuild the MDV block library and set the fit standard for a brand scaling from $65M toward $150M+, and your calls go straight into production.
Compensation
Salary: $165,000–$185,000 base + bonus
Benefits: contributed healthcare package, vision, dental, life insurance, employee discount, and paid annual leave with accrual scheme.
Visa sponsorship is available for this role.
How to Apply – a two-week process
Send your resume and three examples of garments you fit through to production (tech pack pages or before/after fit comments) to careers@manieredevoir.com, subject line: Senior Technical Designer – [Your Name]. Include a short note on why MDV and why now.
From first conversation to offer in under two weeks.
Manière De Voir is an equal opportunity employer.
