Dental Technician Trainee
Essential Functions:

- Learns basic tooth morphology and anatomy.
- Learns to fabricate and repair dental prosthesis and dental appliances such as dentures, partials, crowns and bridges, inlay/onlay, veneers, and implant restorations.
- Learns to read and interpret dental prescriptions.
- Familiarizes self with wide range of materials, such as metal (precious, non-precious, gold) or not metal materials (porcelain, composite, acrylic, polyurethane, co-polyester, thermo plastic) and their use in fabricating dental restorations.
- Learns and practices restoring natural teeth and correcting dental irregularities by manufacturing fixed or removable appliances.
- Develops technical knowledge to make decisions when fabricating dental prosthesis.
- May learn basics of replacing partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).
- Familiarizes self with names and functions of various types of hand tools and equipment (electric drills, presses, lathes, high-heat furnaces, etc.).
- Practices using various types of hand tools and equipment (electric drills, presses, lathes, high-heat furnaces, etc.).
- Documents learning by completing quizzes and worksheets.
- Works under supervision of trainers, and asks for assistance and/or clarification regarding technical issues.
- Learns quality standard protocol, and steps taken to ensure compliance with protocol.
- Learns to recognize problem cases that need additional prep work.
- Learns to work independently and seek help if needed.
- No previous experience required.
- Prior dental experience or background, a plus.
- Previous experience working in positions that require hand and finger dexterity, a plus

Essential Functions:
- Serves as both coach and mentor to staff in areas of problem solving, decision making, process improvement, and professional growth in accordance with company policies.
- Manages production flow and productivity within division; ensures production turnaround time schedules are met.
- Serves as liaison between division and other departments.
- Ensures new policies, programs, and operational changes are implemented and adhered to on production floor.
- Ensures functional areas are complying with standardized work policies and safety regulations
- Identifies opportunities for continuous work flow process improvements.
- Analyzes cost and production reports to ensure operations are maximized and efficient.
- Provides relevant feedback to management regarding any problems and concerns in a timely manner.
- Relies on extensive technical knowledge to assist and advise technicians having problems with cases.
- Ensures staff compliance with all company policies.
- Ensures quality standard compliances are being met across division.
- Coordinates with Human Resources and direct management in a timely manner on any and all employee relations matters.
- Hires, oversees, develops, reviews, and sets goals for department and staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations, recognizes, and acknowledges positive and productive behavior, and provides constructive/corrective feedback for performance issues.
- Assists, trains, guides, and supports team members in areas of problem solving, decision making, process improvement, and professional growth in accordance with company policies.
- Ensures the team understands the performance standards of their department and has a clear understanding of their own individual performance.
- Enforces adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Handles employee relations matters including but not limited to performance management and enforcement of corrective or disciplinary actions. Partners and coordinates with Human Resources in a timely manner on all employee relations matters.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in dental industry as a dental technician or Certified Dental Technician.
- Minimum five (5) years of supervisor or team leadership experience.
- Formal education in related area specialty preferred.
- Certified Dental Technician a plus.
