Signal Processing Engineer – GNSS/PNT
About Logos Space
Logos Space is building a proliferated Low Earth Orbit (pLEO) constellation to deliver resilient, high-performance connectivity to enterprise and government users worldwide. As part of that effort, the Navigation team is designing and building the software and infrastructure for spacecraft timing, astrodynamics, maneuver planning, orbit determination, and related navigation workflows used across flight and ground systems.
Position Summary
We are hiring a Signal Processing Engineer to help design the navigation signals our satellites will transmit. You will turn signal and navigation-message concepts into working reference implementations, clear specifications, and tests that demonstrate the transmitted signal can be acquired, tracked, and decoded.
You will work across navigation signal design, message packaging, and verification, alongside specialists in navigation, timing, payload, RF, FPGA, flight software, and security.
At the Senior level, you will independently own defined signal-design, implementation, and verification workstreams. At the Lead level, you will own the technical direction and delivery of the signal-in-space effort, lead architectural trades and design reviews, and coordinate work across contributing teams.
Responsibilities
Design and evaluate navigation signal structures, including PRN/spreading codes and assignment, data and pilot channels, modulation, and coding. Quantify trade-offs in acquisition, tracking, receiver complexity, and signal performance.
Define navigation message content, framing, and broadcast schedules for ephemeris, clock, satellite health, and constellation information. Evaluate bandwidth, update cadence, data validity, and the time required for a receiver to obtain usable navigation data.
Develop simulation tools and reference implementations that encode navigation messages and generate baseband/IQ signals. Use them to evaluate design choices and provide reproducible reference data for implementation teams.
Develop and maintain the Signal-in-Space Interface Control Document (ICD), capturing signal definitions, message formats, field semantics, and relationships among code, symbol, message, and transmit timing.
Work with navigation, timing, security, and payload implementation teams to define navigation-data and timing interfaces, signal configuration, operating modes, and authentication-related message requirements.
Build conformance tests and golden-reference test vectors. Verify signal and message behavior with representative receiver processing, support software and hardware integration tests, and investigate discrepancies between the specification and implementation.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of relevant experience in GNSS, PNT, digital communications, spread-spectrum systems, SDR, or related signal-processing work. Strong graduate research may substitute for some professional experience.
Strong digital communications and signal-processing fundamentals, including modulation, synchronization, correlation, framing/coding, and spread-spectrum principles.
Experience implementing and validating a digital waveform or signal-processing chain through simulation, software, or hardware testing.
Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++, or a comparable language for analysis and reference implementations, with experience using Git and reproducible development and testing workflows.
Ability to turn design decisions into clear technical specifications and interfaces, explain engineering trade-offs, and independently carry a defined technical workstream through implementation and verification.
For Lead candidates, demonstrated experience owning signal or communications architecture, leading technical decisions across teams, coordinating contributors, and carrying designs through implementation and verification is required.
Preferred Qualifications
GNSS signal processing, acquisition and tracking, navigation message encoding or decoding, or GNSS receiver and simulator development.
PRN/code-family analysis, navigation signal ICDs, or LEO and other high-Doppler signal environments.
SDR platforms, RF/baseband test equipment, FPGA or RFSoC implementation interfaces, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Navigation message authentication, secure communications, precision timing, or spaceborne payload integration.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Even if you don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply. We value strong fundamentals, sound judgment, and growth potential, and we know great candidates do not always match every item on a job description.
