About Us

At Money Forward, we are dedicated to transforming financial services using advanced technology. With over 50 services for individuals and businesses, including popular products like Money Forward ME and Money Forward Cloud, we help make managing money easier. We use “account aggregation” technology to gather user data, turning it into useful insights for our customers.

As announced in "Money Forward AI Vision 2026(https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/full-transcript-money-forward-announced-ai-strategy-vision-phwoc/?trackingId=sl33ZIGRFzkBJJv7wI9qsg%3D%3D)," we view AI utilization not as an option, but as a prerequisite for sustainable enterprise growth. Guided by executive leadership, we are accelerating an all-in AI shift across the entire company.

Rather than treating AI merely as an efficiency tool for existing tasks, we fundamentally ask, "How should this process exist in the first place?" to reconstruct products and workflows optimized for the AI era. Powered by a rich, active user base and vast datasets, we strictly practice AI-driven development engineered backward from maximum user value. Internally, we actively integrate generative AI tools into our development environments, driving radical productivity gains and rapid product iterations.

We are looking for motivated engineers who want to embrace new technologies without fear of failure in this period of global trial and error—and who are truly passionate about building high-impact AI services grounded in massive real-world data.

Overview

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen our Site Reliability Engineering capabilities and support the continuous scaling of our services.

As our systems grow in complexity and business impact, we need an engineer who can drive both operational excellence and infrastructure modernization.
This role will play a key part in aligning SRE initiatives with departmental goals, ensuring reliability, security, and cost efficiency across our platforms through autonomous task execution and cross-functional collaboration.

You will help shape the technical direction of SRE initiatives and build a foundation for sustainable growth.

Responsibilities and Duties

Key Responsibilities

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for autonomous task management, including scoping complex technical requirements, breaking down work into manageable deliverables, and planning for reliable execution.

You will drive cross-functional coordination by actively engaging with teams outside your own to clarify technical requirements, align dependencies, and follow up on confirmations of verification. You will also support the team by providing guidance and mentorship to peers rather than working in isolation.

From a technical standpoint, you will contribute insights on reliability, risk, and operational readiness to advise department leadership and stakeholders. You will oversee system observability and monitoring, lead efforts in infrastructure cost optimization, technical migration and modernization, security hardening of software delivery processes, and direct automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment activities.

Expected Role and Impact

The Site Reliability Engineer is expected to act as a senior technical contributor and subject matter expert within the team.

You will translate business and departmental objectives into scoped technical projects and actionable delivery plans. You will serve as an advisor to engineering managers and stakeholders, offering insights on reliability, risk, and operational readiness without direct people management responsibilities.

Your role includes guiding and mentoring team members to foster technical growth and collaborative delivery while ensuring high operational standards.

What You'll Gain and Experience

In this role, you will gain extensive hands-on experience driving key SRE initiatives that directly impact business continuity and customer satisfaction.

You will have the opportunity to design and improve large-scale observability, deployment, and reliability processes while balancing cost, performance, and security.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization, you will develop strong collaborative problem-solving and communication skills, as well as deepen your technical expertise in modern infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE practices.

This position offers the chance to influence strategic technical decisions and see your initiatives reflected in measurable improvements to system reliability and efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in autonomous task management, including scoping projects, breaking down work, and planning for timely delivery.
  • Strong technical project planning skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in alignment with departmental goals.
  • Proven experience in cross-functional coordination, engaging with teams outside your own to clarify requirements, align dependencies, and follow up on verification confirmations.
  • Track record of providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members, collaborating effectively rather than working in isolation.
  • Ability to evaluate systems and provide actionable insights on operational readiness, system risks, and reliability standards.

Technical

  • Hands-on experience with system observability and monitoring, including designing metrics, logs, and traces to understand system behavior and performance.
  • Experience in infrastructure cost optimization, such as right-sizing resources, leveraging appropriate services, and introducing cost transparency.
  • Experience in technical migration and modernization efforts (e.g., moving to cloud-native architectures, refactoring legacy systems, or adopting modern deployment practices).
  • Experience with security hardening of software delivery, including secure pipelines, access control, and compliance with security best practices.
  • Practical experience with infrastructure provisioning and deployment (e.g., using infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment pipelines).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
  • Extensive experience as a senior IC or technical lead in SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure-focused organizations.
  • Advanced task management and scoping skills across complex, long-term infrastructure and reliability projects.
  • Experience advising department managers and engineering leads on technical roadmaps, risk mitigation, and operational readiness.
  • Proven ability to drive multi-team technical alignment and deliver reliability improvements in fast-changing environments.
  • Strong track record of mentoring junior and mid-level engineers to foster technical excellence and team cohesion.
  • Experience in cross-functional initiatives involving multiple engineering and business teams.

Technical

  • Deep expertise in designing and operating advanced system observability and monitoring solutions across distributed systems.
  • Strong background in infrastructure cost optimization in large-scale or multi-cloud environments.
  • Proven track record in leading major technical migration or modernization programs.
  • Significant experience in security hardening of software delivery, including integrating security checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced experience in large-scale infrastructure provisioning and deployment using automation and best practices.

Language Requirements

  • Japanese: Not required
  • English:TOEIC score of 700 or above.
*Note: If you have other qualifications or experiences demonstrating English proficiency, such as EIKEN Pre-1, EIKEN 2nd Grade (CSE score 1950+), TOEFL iBT 60+, IELTS 5.0+, or Cambridge FCE.), feel free to discuss with us.
