Intelligent Living is a Dubai-based smart home automation and technology integration company specialising in high-end residential projects.

We design, install, programme, integrate and maintain sophisticated smart home systems, including KNX automation, Control4, advanced audio-visual solutions, professional IT networking, lighting control, HVAC integration, automated shading, CCTV and access control.

As our business continues to expand, we are looking for technically skilled and motivated Smart Home Automation Engineers to join our growing engineering team.

We are considering candidates across multiple experience levels, from capable mid-level engineers to experienced senior and lead engineers. Multiple positions may be available for candidates with the right technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme, configure, commission and troubleshoot KNX and Control4 automation systems.
• Integrate lighting, HVAC, shading, security, access control and AV systems into unified smart home solutions.
• Configure and commission advanced AV systems, including HDMI matrices, HDBaseT, AV-over-IP, audio matrices, DSPs, amplifiers, multiroom audio and home cinema systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot professional IT networks, including routers, managed switches, VLANs, wireless access points and PoE infrastructure.
• Integrate third-party systems using IP, RS-232, IR, relays, APIs and other relevant communication protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve complex faults involving automation, AV, networking and system integrations.
• Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and system architecture documentation.
• Carry out system testing, commissioning, optimisation and client handovers.
• Provide hands-on installation and technical support when required.
• Work closely with project managers, site coordinators, technicians and other contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, programming files and system backups.
• Support existing clients with system maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades.
• For senior-level candidates, provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and installation teams.

Essential Technical Skills

KNX Automation

• Practical experience using ETS for KNX programming, configuration and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of KNX lighting, shading, HVAC and integration.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve KNX communication and programming issues.

Control4

• Hands-on experience with Control4 Composer Pro, controllers, drivers and system programming.
• Experience integrating third-party lighting, HVAC, shading, security and AV systems.
• Ability to configure, commission and troubleshoot Control4 installations.

Advanced Audio-Visual Systems

• Strong understanding of professional distributed audio and video systems.
• Experience with HDMI matrices, HDBaseT, AV-over-IP and video distribution.
• Knowledge of DSP configuration, audio routing, signal processing and multi-zone audio.
• Experience with home cinema systems, AV receivers, amplifiers, sources and control systems.
• Ability to diagnose HDMI, EDID, audio distribution and signal-related issues.

IT Networking

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routing and switching.
• Experience configuring managed switches, routers, wireless access points and PoE networks.
• Practical network troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with Ubiquiti UniFi or similar professional networking platforms.

Additional Skills – Highly Desirable

• DALI / DALI-2 lighting control.
• HVAC integration using CoolAutomation, Intesis, BACnet or Modbus.
• Home Assistant and hybrid/retrofit automation solutions.
• Zigbee, Matter, Shelly and wireless automation technologies.
• CCTV, access control, video intercom and smart lock integration.
• Technical system design, equipment selection and preparation of schematics.
• Experience with other professional AV and automation platforms.
• Experience supporting or supervising installation teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven practical experience in smart home automation, system integration, AV or related engineering disciplines.
• Relevant KNX and Control4 certifications/training required for mid-level and senior positions.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks.
• Willingness to support physical installation works when necessary.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach when working with clients.
• UAE project experience and a valid UAE driving licence are preferred but not mandatory.

Candidates will be assessed based on practical technical knowledge, programming abilities, certifications and relevant project experience.
