About Build AI
Build AI is the data hyperscaler for Physical AI. We're vertically integrated across hardware, manufacturing, logistics, collection, and model training to scale the physical labor dataset orders of magnitude faster than anyone in the world.
Job Summary
We build hardware and software to collect data from people doing physical work. We’re hiring a Software Engineer in India to build the systems that run these operations at scale.
Our field teams recruit workers, assign wearable cameras, collect devices, upload footage, and coordinate payments. Your software should make this process reliable and easy to run across cities. You will work closely with founders and operations teams to identify problems, ship solutions quickly, and improve them based on field use — owning each problem from understanding through deployment and support. You should be comfortable working across the stack and learning whatever is needed.
Key Responsibilities
Build web and mobile tools for field teams, partners, and internal operations
Build workflows for worker onboarding, device assignment, attendance, collection tracking, and payments
Build dashboards that make collection volume, data quality, costs, and operational problems visible
Integrate applications with upload, storage, and data quality systems
Make field workflows reliable when connectivity is poor or uploads fail
Automate manual processes that slow down operations or introduce errors
Work directly with operators to understand problems and test solutions in the field
Own features from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and monitoring
Investigate production failures and fix the underlying causes
Make practical trade-offs between speed, reliability, and maintainability
You may be a good fit if you have (Must-have qualifications)
Have personally built and shipped software used by real users
Can work across frontend, backend, APIs, and databases
Can turn an unclear operating problem into a working product
Can debug issues across application code, infrastructure, and third-party integrations
Understand testing, access control, and reliable data handling
Can work independently and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical teams
Strong candidates may also have experience with (Nice-to-have qualifications)

How we're different
Build believes in the Bitter Lesson. By taking a general approach of learning from humans, our addressable market is all physical labor.
We are a fully in-person team in San Francisco (Financial District) and Shenzhen (Nanshan), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed.
Build AI is an equal opportunity employer. We review every application. If you do not meet every bullet, still apply. Questions: research@build.ai
