Role Overview Summary of Job: Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Full Time Anesthesiologist. J1 visa applicants welcomed! The DRA program allows applicants to apply at any time of year! NorthStar Anesthesia of Illinois, LLC is seeking an Anesthesiologist MD at its Carbondale, IL location. Multiple facilities within the SIH system: Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Herrin Hospital, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Harrisburg Hospital, The Orthopedic Institute of Southern Illinois, and Physicians' Surgery Center. Cases include: Ortho, General, Podiatry, Plastic, ENT, Cardiac, Major Vascular Compensation: $667,500 Annually, 10 Weeks PTO, and $60,000 Sign-On Bonus. Job Description : Evaluates the patient pre-operatively by interviewing and examining the patient; assesses data and selects the appropriate anesthetic. Works in collaboration with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, surgeons and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. Cares for patient before, during and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a patient assessment, prepares the patient for anesthesia, administers and maintains anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management. Oversees patient recovery from anesthesia and cares for the patient’s immediate post-operative needs. Administers anesthetics in accordance with clinical privileges; performs medical non-surgical procedures, i.e., IV insertion, intubation, induction of anesthesia, emergence of general anesthesia; placement of arterial and centra venous access lines, administers various types of anesthetic blocks, maintains and secures airways in routine and acute medical situations. Works in the operating room and is able to perform local, regional, and neuraxial anesthesia, and the full range of sedation, and general anesthesia for patients, including patients who are undergoing surgery or other procedures. The anesthesiologist may have complete responsibility or may share responsibility with CRNAs in a medically directed or supervised model. Works in all areas of anesthesiology, from general surgery to the delivery room. Prepares patients; takes a medical history; explains procedures; administers anesthetics; monitors the patient during surgery and keeps a record of the course of anesthesia, within the scope of the anesthesiologist’s credentials/privileges. Responds to critical situations arising during treatment and works with a healthcare team to ensure patient safety. Prepares drugs, maintains accounting of controlled substances; maintains and evaluates anesthesia equipment to ensure safe operating conditions. May also prescribe drugs in accordance with hospital guidelines. Assists in assurance that patient care requirements are met. Perform all acts reasonably necessary to maintain and improve Physician’s professional skills. Promote, to the extent permitted by law and the applicable canons of professional ethics, the professional practice of the Company. Participates in the department Quality Management functions. Minimum Requirements : Position requires a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree, or foreign equivalent. Position requires completion of Medical Residency in Anesthesiology; and Illinois Physician License.
