This is an opportunity to join ScottishPower Renewables in a hands-on cyber security role, helping protect the systems that support critical national infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a SOC Analyst, you’ll provide continuous security monitoring, alert triage, investigation and response support across OT environments. During your first year, you’ll gain exposure across Cyber Operations & Response, building a strong understanding of the operational environment and how we detect and respond to cyber threats.
Working within a hybrid SOC model, you’ll collaborate closely with our Managed Security Service Provider, Cyber Operations & Response teams and operational stakeholders. The role will involve monitoring security alerts across SIEM, OT detection and other security tooling, investigating suspicious activity and escalating confirmed incidents through the appropriate response processes.
You’ll also support incident response activity, including investigation and evidence gathering, alongside Vulnerability Management and Cyber Threat Intelligence initiatives. Accurate documentation will be important, helping support assurance, audit requirements and post-incident reviews.
Continuous improvement is another key part of the role. You’ll contribute to developing SOC processes, playbooks and detection capability while working within ScottishPower Renewables’ security policies and regulatory obligations, including NCSC CAF and NIS requirements.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with experience in a SOC or security monitoring environment. You should understand security alerts, incidents and escalation processes, preferably with practical familiarity of SIEM or security monitoring tools such as QRadar. A good understanding of common attack techniques, threat actors and indicators of compromise will also be important.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. You’ll need to manage multiple alerts and investigations, prioritise activity based on risk and operational impact, and communicate clearly with technical and operational teams.
Experience within OT or ICS environments would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential. Exposure to threat hunting or detection engineering would also be useful, alongside certifications such as Security+, GCIH, GCED or SC-200.
The role has a particular focus on OT security and safety-critical environments, providing an opportunity to develop broader cyber operations experience while helping strengthen the resilience of essential infrastructure.
The position works Monday to Friday, Hybrid with 2 days in the office 9am to 5pm, within a wider 24/7 operational environment.
There will be opportunities for on-call and the candidate must be eligible for SC clearance.
What’s in it for you
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
