Get to know the role Job Title: Sr. Corporate Counsel Job Summary: The Senior Legal Counsel for Mexico and Latin America provides broad legal support across commercial, compliance, and regulatory matters, serving as the primary legal point of contact and support for The Pokémon Company International’s (TPCi) business in the region, while operating within TPCi’s governance frameworks and policies. This role functions as embedded subsidiary counsel with a high degree of independent judgment, coordinating closely with TPCi Legal, business leaders and local external counsel as appropriate. FLSA Classification (US Only): Exempt People Manager: No What you'll do Legal Advisory & Transactional Support Provide front‑line legal advice and guidance to business stakeholders in support of day‑to‑day operations and strategic initiatives in Mexico and Latin America. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including commercial contracts, leases, sales, marketing and licensing agreements, vendor agreements, and other transactional documents. Advise on legal risk, contract interpretation, and practical solutions aligned with business objectives and TPCi risk tolerance. Subsidiary Legal Ownership & Triage Act as the primary legal point of contact for the Mexico subsidiary, independently triaging legal matters and determining appropriate resolution or escalation to TPCi Legal. Coordinate closely with attorneys at TPCi headquarters to ensure alignment with company‑wide legal standards, playbooks, and policies. Exercise sound judgment to address local legal issues within established frameworks, escalating novel, high‑risk, or strategic matters when appropriate. Litigation, Compliance & Regulatory Matters Manage and coordinate litigation, disputes, and regulatory matters affecting the Mexico subsidiary and TPCi’s Latin American business, including overseeing and interfacing with outside counsel. Support compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, including identifying gaps, monitoring developments, and recommending or implementing best practices and practical solutions. Research and interpret existing and evolving laws and regulations impacting the subsidiary and jurisdictions in the Latin America region advise stakeholders on associated risks and obligations. Cross ‑Functional Collaboration Partner with internal commercial and operations teams to provide timely, pragmatic legal support. Contribute to the development and maintenance of contract templates, policies, and guidance materials to support efficient legal operations. Support consistency and transparency between the Mexico subsidiary and TPCi Legal through clear communication and documentation. What you'll bring Licenciatura en Derecho, Juris Doctor, or equivalent law degree. Licensed to practice law in Mexico and in good standing, holding a valid cédula professional, or eligible and actively pursuing licensure in Mexico. Eight (8+) years of relevant professional experience, or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise. Broad generalist legal experience, including transactional work and litigation or dispute management. Experience supporting multinational organizations or subsidiary operations, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones. Strong drafting, negotiation, research, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to operate independently with sound judgment while collaborating closely with a centralized legal function. Pragmatic, business‑oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with intellectual property, marketing, sales, licensing, employment, regulatory, or consumer‑facing matters is a plus. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally at a native or bi-lingual fluency level in both Spanish and English, negotiate, draft, and review legal documents in such languages. Portuguese native or fluent level both verbally and in writing a plus. Additional Information This is an individual contributor role with no direct people‑management responsibilities. The role reports directly into a Director, Associate General Counsel, based in the UK responsible for International Legal.
