Lead environmental compliance, site assessments, permitting, and regulatory reporting for federal, territorial, and private clients across the USVI and mainland U.S. Projects range from coastal and industrial sites to federal facilities and private developments. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.


Job Summary:
The Senior Environmental Specialist manages compliance and assessment projects from site evaluation through final agency submittal. This position works with limited supervision and mentors junior staff.


The position is based in St. Croix or St. Thomas, USVI, and supports projects throughout the US Virgin Islands and the United States.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with territorial and federal environmental regulations.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and site evaluations (e.g., Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments).
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Mentor junior staff and review their technical work for quality and accuracy.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data from air, water, and soil samples.
  • Manage environmental permitting, including air, water, waste, and land use permits.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory agencies (e.g., DPNR, EPA).
  • Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, and the public on environmental matters.
  • Support sustainability programs that reduce water use and waste generation.
  • Track project performance and proactively manage risks, issues, and changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in an environmental or related role
  • Strong understanding of federal and territorial environmental laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with environmental software and data analysis tools (e.g., GIS, environmental modeling software)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Travel:
Up to 20%
