GEICO is looking for a Staff Analytics Engineer, Product that provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for Engineering and Product Management. Job Responsibilities: Dashboard Development : Lead design and delivery of interactive, production-grade dashboards (Looker/Mode/Tableau/Metabase/Power BI) that answer product and business questions. Data Modeling : Own semantic data models and metrics (events, user cohorts, funnels, retention) ensuring accuracy and consistency across reports. Pipeline Engineering : Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Beam, or equivalent) to ingest, clean, and transform product and event data. Instrumentation & QA : Partner with product and engineering to define event schemas, validate data quality, and implement monitoring/alerting for metric regressions. Collaboration : Serve as trusted analytics partner to PMs, designers, and engineers—translate product questions into analytics requirements and deliverables. Performance & Scalability : Optimize queries, dashboards, and pipelines for performance and cost at scale. Mentorship & Best Practices : Mentor junior analysts/engineers, define standards for metrics, documentation, and reproducible analyses. Basic Qualifications: Experience : 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or applied analytics with product-focused experience. Tools : Proficient with SQL and modern analytics stack (data warehouse such as Snowflake, dbt or similar, and a BI tool). Engineering Skills : Strong ETL/ELT design, data modeling (star/snowflake/semantic layers), and production-grade pipeline development. Product Sense : Demonstrated ability to partner with product teams and translate product goals into measurable metrics and dashboards. Communication : Clear storytelling with data—can present findings to non-technical stakeholders and influence product direction. Quality Mindset : Experience establishing data QA, lineage, and monitoring practices. Preferred Qualifications: • Languages & Tools : Python or Scala for data engineering, Airflow, Kafka, or streaming experience. • Analytics Best Practices : Familiarity with metric governance, metric stores, and versioned dbt projects. • Domain : Insurance industry experience Annual Salary $115,000.00 - $230,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
