Job Description
The Student Success Team at UGA Libraries seeks a collegial, service-oriented librarian to join a dynamic team supporting student success through hands-on learning, instruction, and outreach. Reporting to the Director of the Miller Learning Center and Student Success, the Librarian will use user-needs-assessment methods to cultivate welcoming, meaningful, and inclusive connections with students and student groups across campus. They will work collaboratively with co-curricular units and departments to identify and develop sustainable, high-impact student success initiatives that connect students with library expertise, services, collections, and spaces. This will include work with the Creative Engagement Wing, the First Year Odyssey program, First Year Writing Seminars, and other student-success partners. They will also contribute to one-time instruction for first-year courses as well as instruction in creative technologies (instruction may vary based on functional duties), and will work with members of the Libraries Academic Engagement department to develop digital instructional assets that provide asynchronous support for identified courses and other teaching sessions. In addition to instruction duties, each student success librarian serves as a lead for one or more functional areas of the department including makerspace operations, Creative Engagement Wing Fellows program support, or coordination of Creative Engagement Wing logistics and communications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead in a specific functional area based on the emerging needs of the department; the balance between instructional and functional duties may be adjusted over time. The Miller Learning Center is home to the Creative Engagement Wing, a high-tech collaborative hub designed for hands-on learning, innovation, and student projects. Opened in 2025, the CEW is a collaborative project between the University of Georgia’s Office of Instruction, Libraries, and Enterprise Information Technology Services. The CEW hosts a Makerspace equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, and sewing machines; a podcast studio, virtual reality and immersive technologies for interactive learning, and more. This position contributes to departmental services and projects and is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across all library departments in service of the library's mission. Because this role is focused on engaging with students, occasional evening or weekend responsibilities should be expected. Salary and Benefits: Minimum salary begins at $61,000 UGA librarians are non-tenured faculty members. UGA offers an attractive benefits program including a choice of health and retirement plans, dental plan, vision plan, tuition remission, paid relocation, 21 days annual leave, 12 days sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. This is an in-person position subject to the university’s Alternative Work Arrangement policy.
Qualifications
