Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. Located near Matachewan, Ontario, it is centrally situated between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, and Sudbury. The completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion in 2020 has supported increased production and strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, Young-Davidson will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come.

Role Overview

As Supervisor, Mine Operations (Construction Shaft), reporting to the Captain, Production and Operations, you will lead the daily planning and organization of work to build and maintain underground structures. You will promote company safety programs, guide and develop crew members, and help ensure compliance with government regulations and internal policies while supporting safe, reliable mine operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work Planning & Communication: Plan, communicate, coordinate, and follow up on work for the assigned construction team.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards and practices, conduct workplace inspections, plan corrective measures, lead monthly health and safety meetings, and complete monthly compliance records.
• Crew Leadership: Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship while holding yourself and crew members accountable for safety and performance targets.
• Performance & Development: Complete performance appraisals with support from the field trainer and reinforce expectations for safe, productive work.
• Reporting & Operational Support: Report planned and completed work daily using the tools provided and perform other duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.

What You Bring to the Table

• A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in mining operations.
• Supervisory Common Core certification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities, along with computer proficiency.
• Post-secondary education in a mining-related field and Train-the-Trainer qualification are assets.
• Mine shaft, mine hoist, and ore crushing, conveyance, and hoisting experience are assets.

Working Conditions

• 7 days on, 7 days off, on a rotating schedule.
• Underground mine environment at the Young-Davidson Mine near Matachewan, Ontario.

Travel & Accommodation

• Located at the Young-Davidson Mine near Matachewan, Ontario, centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury.
• Travel Allowance of up to $25.00 CAD per day
• Relocation package options available

Salary Range: CAD $98,600 – CAD $147,900

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
