The Tax Manager is responsible for supporting the company’s tax function across North America, with a primary focus on tax compliance, reporting, planning, audits, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This position will assist in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and international tax regulations while supporting the execution of the company’s broader tax strategy. The role will work closely with the Tax Director North America, corporate tax teams, finance, accounting, project teams, external advisors, and business unit leaders to provide practical tax guidance and support business operations across infrastructure, construction, concession, and energy-related activities. The Tax Manager will also contribute to tax planning initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, assist with tax authority inquiries, and support transactions, reorganizations, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and other tax matters as required. Job Description Tax Compliance Management: Support the preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and internal requirements. Tax Reporting Support: Assist with tax provisions, tax accounting, reconciliations, reporting packages, and coordination with finance and accounting teams. Tax Planning Execution: Support the implementation of tax planning strategies aligned with corporate objectives and regional business operations. International Tax Coordination: Assist with cross-border tax matters, including transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, withholding tax, and coordination with corporate tax teams. Indirect Tax and Customs Support: Provide support on sales and use tax, VAT/GST-related matters where applicable, customs duties, and other indirect tax obligations. Audit and Tax Authority Support: Coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries, audits, notices, and information requests in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors. Transactional Support: Assist with tax analysis and documentation related to mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, project structuring, and corporate transactions. Project and Business Unit Support: Partner with infrastructure, construction, concession, and energy teams to identify tax considerations impacting projects, bids, operations, and business decisions. Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor changes in U.S., Canadian, and international tax regulations and assist in evaluating their impact on the company. External Advisor Coordination: Manage day-to-day coordination with external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors to support compliance, planning, and reporting activities. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, documentation, controls, and reporting efficiencies. Documentation and Controls: Maintain accurate tax records, supporting schedules, technical memoranda, and documentation required for compliance, audit defense, and internal reporting. Required Skills and Competencies Experience: 7–10+ years of relevant tax experience in a multinational company, public accounting firm, or tax advisory environment. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s in Taxation, CPA, or equivalent professional certification preferred. Corporate Tax Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate taxation, federal and state tax compliance, tax accounting, and consolidated tax reporting. International Tax Knowledge: Experience with international tax concepts, transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, withholding tax, and cross-border structures. Industry Knowledge: Experience in infrastructure, construction, concessions, energy, renewable energy, or project-based businesses is highly valued. Indirect Tax Familiarity: Working knowledge of sales and use tax, customs duties, and indirect tax compliance preferred. Tax Planning and Analysis: Ability to analyze tax implications of business activities and support practical, risk-aware tax planning recommendations. Audit Support: Experience responding to tax notices, audit requests, and inquiries from tax authorities. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and tax/accounting systems; ability to manage large data sets, reconciliations, and reporting schedules. Communication Skills: Ability to explain tax concepts clearly to finance, accounting, project, and non-tax stakeholders. Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, filings, workstreams, and priorities. Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment in evaluating tax risks and opportunities. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, external advisors, and corporate stakeholders in a multicultural environment. Proactivity and Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and responding proactively to regulatory and business changes.
