What's it like to work at the British Council as a Teacher?
Role Overview /Purpose:

Working as part of a collaborative teaching team, you will maintain the highest standards of English Language Teaching (ELT), contribute to the British Council’s reputation as a global leader in English education, and actively engage in continuous professional development and best practice sharing.
This role is particularly suited to an experienced and enthusiastic Early Years teacher who is passionate about teaching young learners aged 3 to 6 and confident in delivering multidisciplinary English lessons, including phonics, to non-native English speakers. Experience teaching primary-aged learners (7 to 10 years old) would be an advantage. We are seeking a dedicated team player who demonstrates strong professional skills, a commitment to learner success, and a willingness to continuously learn and grow.

You will monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, encourage learner autonomy, and maintain a strong focus on achieving positive learning outcomes. As a reflective practitioner, you will actively participate in professional development activities and performance management processes, contributing to the continuous enhancement of teaching quality and the sharing of best practices in English language teaching.
You will also play an active role in supporting the wider activities and objectives of the teaching centre, contributing to course development, team initiatives, and the delivery of excellent customer service. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will attend meetings, support marketing and promotional activities, communicate effectively with students, and complete teaching-related administrative tasks to a high standard. Building positive relationships with customers and stakeholders is essential, as is helping learners develop a broader understanding of the UK and opportunities for intercultural engagement. Throughout all aspects of the role, you will uphold the British Council’s values and ensure full compliance with safeguarding, data protection, equality, diversity and inclusion, special educational needs and disability, and health and safety policies.
