Role Description The Technical Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based Antwerp, Belgium. This role is responsible for overseeing the technical operation, maintenance, and repair of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include planning of major repairs, monitoring vessel performance, reviewing technical reports, and coordinating with ship crews and shore-based teams. The Technical Superintendent will manage budgets for technical operations, work with external vendors and service providers, and support incident investigations and corrective actions. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date documentation, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and providing technical guidance to support reliable and efficient vessel operations.

Qualifications

• Qualification as a marine engineer- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering;
• Sailing experience as a senior engineer officer
• 1 Year shore-based superintendent experience is an advantage
• Hands-on experience in vessel operations, maintenance, and repair.
• Proficiency in planning and supervising dry-docking, overhauls, and technical projects, including coordination with shipyards and contractors.
• Knowledge of maritime safety regulations, class and flag requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with ship crews, shore-based teams, and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to manage multiple vessels and priorities simultaneously.
• Comfort with using technical documentation systems and basic digital tools for reporting and coordination.
• Commitment to safety culture, ethical conduct, and continuous professional development in the maritime field.

The successful candidate will be expected to visit vessels regularly, work directly with Chief Engineers and crew, troubleshoot technical problems onboard, and take ownership of repairs and projects through to completion.

The position is based in Antwerp, Belgium and offers the successful candidate an opportunity to establish a long-term career in Europe.

An initial 6-month probation period will apply. Following successful completion, support will be provided for relocation and, where applicable, for the successful candidate to move to Europe with their family, subject to the relevant employment and immigration requirements.
