Tenure-track faculty position in Socialcultural Anthropology
The School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies (SSAS), within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa, is accepting applications for one (1) tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in sociocultural anthropology.
We are looking for candidates with an innovative research program and interest in teaching methodology and research design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Topical specialization is open.
Expertise in experiential learning is considered an asset. Priority will be given to candidates whose theoretical and regional expertise complements that of current faculty.

Its graduate students are trained by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A PhD in Anthropology; candidates who are close to completing their doctoral degree may also be considered.
- Demonstrate excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching.
- Demonstrate excellence, or the potential for excellence, in research.
Duties
- Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
- research activities;
- supervision of graduate students;
- participation in the educational and administration activities of the School;
- performing any other activity provided for in the Collective Agreement.
Terms
A new tenure-track position. Note that tenure is conditional on active knowledge of Canada's two official languages (English and French).
Salary
Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).
Starting Date
July 1, 2027
