Senior Lead VoIP Engineer
Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)
Relocation & Visa Sponsorship: Available
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Lead VoIP Engineer to drive the architecture, technical direction, and scalability of our next-generation Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) voice infrastructure. You will design and build carrier-grade, low-latency, and highly available global telephony systems while mentoring engineering teams across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Architect & Build: Design high-scale signaling and media infrastructure using FreeSWITCH, Kamailio/OpenSIPS, and RTPEngine.
- Core Systems Engineering: Implement robust SBC configurations, NAT traversal (STUN/TURN/ICE), load balancing, and automated failover strategies.
- Quality & Resiliency: Define standards for QoS, call routing, and codec optimization (mitigating jitter and packet loss); drive observability, security (TLS/SRTP, fraud prevention), and high availability.
- Hands-on Leadership: Write and debug performance-critical C/C++ code, lead major incident resolution for live traffic, and mentor mid-to-senior engineers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Backend, Product, and DevOps teams to integrate telephony APIs, carrier trunking, billing, and call analytics.
What You’ll Bring
- 10–12+ Years in Telephony/VoIP: Deep expertise in carrier-grade CPaaS/CCaaS platforms, PSTN trunking, and global carrier interconnects.
- Core Stack Proficiency: Hands-on development and tuning with FreeSWITCH, Kamailio/OpenSIPS, and RTPEngine.
- Systems Programming: Strong hands-on coding and debugging skills in C/C++ for real-time systems.
- Deep Protocol Knowledge: Mastery of SIP/SDP, RTP/RTCP, WebRTC, NAT traversal, and VoIP security (TLS, SRTP).
- Networking & Cloud: Solid foundation in TCP/UDP/IP networking, packet analysis (Wireshark/sngrep), and deploying distributed VoIP stacks in the cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
