About the role
Our robots and racking get tested for real at our test site in West Texas. When the team needs a bracket, a frame, a cart, or a repair, it usually needs it today. You’re the person who makes that happen.

As our Welder, you’ll turn drawings and quick sketches into finished steel. You'll cut, fit, and weld parts for the robots, the racking, and the tooling our crew uses every day. You’ll work on a small crew of assemblers and machinists, reporting to our Manufacturing Lead, and side by side with the engineers who design what you build.

This is less production welding and more “we need this fixed by Thursday.” Some days you’re in the shop, and some days you’re out in the field repairing hardware where it stands.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret part drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions to build parts and assemblies.

• Prepare and cut material by measuring, marking, sawing, grinding, beveling, and plasma cutting steel and aluminum stock.

• MIG, TIG, and stick weld brackets, frames, fixtures, carts, and racks in carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

• Fit up, tack, and square assemblies with clamps, jigs, and fixtures, and check them against drawing dimensions.

• Repair and modify robot frames, racking, and field equipment, both in the shop and on site.

• Build the tooling the crew needs, from lifting aids to overhead rigs, often from a sketch and a conversation with engineering.

• Inspect your own welds and fix defects before parts leave your bench.

• Run the plasma table and handheld plasma cutter, and keep the welders maintained.

• Tell engineers when a joint is hard to reach, a part will warp, or there’s a faster way to build it.

• Keep the weld area organized, safe, and stocked with consumables and gas.

• Follow site safety rules and JSAs every time.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience.

• Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and stick (SMAW) welding.

• Ability to read and interpret part drawings and weld symbols.

• Experience preparing and cutting material with saws, grinders, a torch, or plasma.

• Accurate fit-up and measuring with a tape, square, level, and calipers.

• Comfortable working from drawings that change and sketches that come in fast.

• Comfortable working on your own and solving problems without waiting for direction.

Nice to have

• Experience with a CNC plasma table and a handheld plasma cutter.

• AWS certification, such as D1.1 structural steel.

• Flux-core (FCAW) welding experience.

• Oilfield, pipeline, trailer, or heavy equipment fabrication.

• Field or mobile welding experience.

• Basic machining or CAD skills.

• Forklift certification.
