Zoo Animal Keeper

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of the Zoo Animal Keeper position is to ensure the health, welfare, and enrichment of zoo animals through daily care, feeding, habitat maintenance, and observation.

Qualifications / Licenses / Skills

Minimum of 2 years working with exotic animals and birds in zoo facilities.
Knowledge of animal training techniques and the application of positive reinforcement
Fluent in English

DUTIES

Prepare and provide species-specific diets, ensuring proper nutrition.
Monitor feeding behaviors and adjust diets as needed.
Clean and sanitize enclosures, habitats, and holding areas.
Ensure habitats are safe, secure, and meet the animals' physical and behavioral needs.
Observe animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes.
Record observations and report concerns to veterinary or supervisory staff.
Maintain accurate records of feeding, health observations, treatments, and enrichment activities
Adhere to safety protocols for working with animals, including potentially dangerous species.
Work with other keepers, veterinarians, and zoo staff to ensure coordinated care and operation
Mentor and train new staff or interns as needed.

AED 2,500 per month Tax Free
