174 remote jobs said "work from anywhere". 7 meant it

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Relomote collected 6,115 fully remote jobs from company career pages (and a few from LinkedIn) that were still open three days later. 174 of them said "work from anywhere" or "anywhere in the world". We read all 174. Only 7 let you live anywhere, in writing.

The 7 that meant it

  1. Chess.com, Senior Product Manager, Gameplay: "We are 100% remote (work from anywhere!)" (needs 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern time)
  2. Amoeba Software, Software QA Engineer: "Fully remote and open to qualified candidates anywhere in the world" (contract)
  3. Scopic Software, AI Evaluation Engineer: "As long as you have a stable internet connection and the drive to thrive, you can work from anywhere." (contractor, 3 hours of overlap with US Central time)
  4. FundCount, Manual QA Engineer: "you can work from anywhere except Russia and Belarus"
  5. Sustain Media, Google Ads Strategist: "You can work from anywhere in the world, but you must work U.S. Eastern Time business hours."
  6. Smart Talent Consulting, Technical Talent Sourcer: "Location: Remote (Global)"
  7. Hospitality Spotlight, Senior Customer Success Manager (travel tech): "This is a remote/"work from anywhere" opportunity."

Even these come with conditions: three need you online during US business hours, and two are contracts.

What the post meantJobs
Really anywhere, said in writing7
Name a country or region65
One company posting the same 5 jobs once per country, in 22 countries60
Too vague to call (pay in pesos or rupees with no location, "build your own business" posts)18
A perk: anywhere for 20 days, 4 weeks or 8 weeks a year13
Say the job is not a "work from anywhere" role5
Not about the job's location (company or product copy)4
"Anywhere in the world" next to US-only paperwork (a 401(k), 1099 contracts)2
Total174

The 65 that name a place often do it in the same sentence: "work from anywhere in Bulgaria", "work from anywhere within your home country (Colombia, Brazil, or Argentina)". One says "Work from anywhere, anytime." and later asks for a resident of Legazpi City or the Bicol Region in the Philippines. A security job says it "isn't a passport-optional, work-from-anywhere-on-Earth kind of remote", then lists "Work from anywhere" under benefits.

How to tell if a remote job is really open worldwide

  • Read to the bottom. The benefits section is where "anywhere" quietly turns into a country.
  • Look for the place in the same sentence: "anywhere in" is almost always followed by a country or region.
  • US-only paperwork gives it away: a 401(k), US health plans or 1099 contracts mean the job hires in the United States.
  • Check the hours. "Anywhere" plus US business hours is open to the world on paper, but you work US hours.
  • Search for "anywhere in the world" or "Remote (Global)" rather than "work from anywhere", which is also a perk name.

How we counted

We took every fully remote job that reached Relomote on October 15, 2026 and was still live three days later, kept those whose description said "work from anywhere", "working from anywhere" or "anywhere in the world", and read each one in full. Relomote also labels every job with the countries it can hire from: see the jobs open worldwide, or what share of remote jobs that is.
