ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a fast-growing AI product company, is building a small sandbox function to explore what new AI models and modalities make possible for everyday users. This is not a classic feature team role. You will come up with product ideas, build them quickly as proofs of concept, and hand the most promising ones over to the core team for production.
If you love making things, have more ideas than time, and use AI as a creative partner in how you build, this role was made for you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Generate product ideas and turn them into working proofs of concept, fast
- Explore new AI models and modalities (image, video, audio, text, multimodal) and show what they can do for everyday users
- Prototype across the stack, from front-end experiences to the back-end services that power them
- Judge which ideas are worth building and which to drop
- Hand promising prototypes over to the core engineering team, with enough clarity for them to take it to production
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A hands-on engineer with broad skills across front-end and back-end, comfortable prototyping quickly
- Strong front-end skills are a big plus
- A track record in creative tech: agencies, game studios, media and entertainment, ad-tech, design tools, or similar
- Personal work you are proud of: portfolios, side builds, game jams, generative art, demos on GitHub or social media
- Proven use of AI creative tools such as image and video generation, ComfyUI-style workflows, or similar
- An AI-first way of working: you guide AI tools to ship great results, rather than writing every line by hand
- Self-directed, curious, and genuinely interested in the product and the people who use it
A computer science degree is optional. What matters is what you have built and how you think.
WHAT THE PROCESS LOOKS LIKE
The client bets on the person over the CV. Expect a conversation about taste, ideas and creative thinking, plus a deeper technical conversation with an engineering manager. There is no take-home coding test. If there is a technical exercise, it is a live system design session where you work with AI to design a backend service and talk through the request flow. They are looking at your judgment and how well you steer AI, not your ability to memorise syntax.
Be ready to talk about yourself too: your hobbies, what you watch, play and read, and how you use creative tools.
ATTENTION UPON DROPPING YOUR APPLICATION:
Please, immediately send an email to virtuous@tunga.io with subject 'Creative Technologist - Your Name' sharing concrete examples of creative tech and AI prototyping work you have done.
We're specifically interested in:
- Your creative side: what you make or consume (games, film, music, art, design) and how it connects to your work with generative media
- Prototypes or products you have built end to end: what the idea was, your stack, how fast you got it working, and what happened next
- How you use AI creative tools such as image or video generation or ComfyUI-style workflows: what you made and how your workflow looked
- How you build with AI day to day: a concrete example of steering AI tools to ship something faster or better than you could alone
- Front-end work you are proud of: interactive experiences, UIs or creative interfaces, with links where possible
- Any experience at creative or digital agencies, game studios, media, ad-tech or design tool companies
Portfolios, side builds, game jams and demos are very welcome here, alongside professional work. Please skip tutorials and course projects.
A short paragraph per example is enough: what you built, your specific role, why you built it, and one or two decisions you made along the way. Links to portfolios, repos, demos or social posts are strongly encouraged.
Vague answers like "I use ChatGPT and Midjourney a lot and I'm full-stack" won't move you to the next stage.
