We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer – Data Center Operations to support and oversee enterprise data center infrastructure across locations within approximately 30 miles of New York City. This is a consulting position with planned conversion to a full-time role in 2027.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure experience, with banking or financial services experience strongly preferred. The role combines hands-on data center and networking responsibilities with technical oversight of Windows/Unix, virtualization, and storage infrastructure supported by specialized teams.
Key Responsibilities
Rack, stack, install, move, cable, troubleshoot, and decommission servers, switches, and other data center equipment.
Install, trace, patch, label, and troubleshoot copper and fiber network infrastructure.
Support and troubleshoot Cisco switching and routing hardware, network connectivity, TCP/IP, and VLANs.
Provide technical oversight and direction across Windows/Unix, virtualization, and storage infrastructure, including reviewing technical plans, changes, implementations, and troubleshooting activities.
Coordinate infrastructure changes, upgrades, deployments, and maintenance across specialized technology teams.
Identify technical risks, dependencies, and issues and ensure appropriate resolution and escalation.
Maintain accurate infrastructure, cabling, inventory, and technical documentation.
Ensure work follows established security, change-management, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
5+ years of enterprise infrastructure, data center operations, network operations, or related experience.
Banking or financial services infrastructure experience strongly preferred.
Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco switching and routing, TCP/IP, VLANs, copper and fiber networking, and network troubleshooting.
Strong technical expertise across Windows/Unix, virtualization, and enterprise storage, with the ability to review designs and changes, evaluate technical recommendations, identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and provide informed technical direction.
Solid understanding of enterprise data center architecture, infrastructure dependencies, resiliency, and operational practices.
Ability to comprehend complex technical plans and procedures and coordinate effectively across network, systems, storage, security, facilities, and vendor teams.
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision; professional, dependable, and reliable.
Ability to commute to supported facilities within approximately 30 miles of New York City.
Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. independently and assist with heavier equipment using appropriate procedures.
