Know how to turn strong customer relationships into long-term commercial growth?

We're working with an established Yorkshire-based Managed Services Provider that's spent decades delivering complex, secure IT solutions to organisations across the public and private sectors.

The business has built its reputation on technical expertise, trusted relationships and delivering solutions for customers with demanding IT requirements.

They're now looking for an experienced Account Manager to take responsibility for an existing portfolio of customers, ensuring those relationships remain strong, contracts are retained and opportunities for further growth are identified and developed.

This is a commercially focused account management role. You'll be looking after existing customers, understanding their evolving requirements and identifying opportunities to introduce additional services that genuinely benefit their business.

Your focus will be on protecting and growing the value of the customer relationships already in place.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing existing customer accounts: Take commercial ownership of an assigned portfolio, building effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.

  • Protecting customer revenue: Proactively manage customer retention, identify potential risks and take appropriate action to protect long-term relationships.

  • Securing contract renewals: Maintain visibility of contract terms and renewal dates, leading commercial discussions and negotiations to retain business.

  • Growing account value: Identify and convert upselling and cross-selling opportunities across managed IT services, cloud hosting, connectivity, cybersecurity and related solutions.

  • Developing account plans: Conduct regular customer reviews, understand changing business requirements and create practical plans for account development.

  • Working with technical teams: Engage presales and Service Delivery specialists to develop appropriate solutions, resolve commercial concerns and ensure customers receive the support they need.

  • Managing your CRM and pipeline: Maintain accurate customer records, renewal dates, growth opportunities, commercial activity and revenue forecasts.

  • Delivering commercial results: Achieve agreed targets for customer retention, renewals, account growth and profitability.

You'll also work with the Business Development team to ensure newly acquired customers are introduced and handed over effectively.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a background in commercial account management within an MSP or IT services environment who understands how to maintain and develop long-term technology customer relationships.

You'll need:

  • Proven experience managing and developing existing B2B customer accounts within an MSP or IT services provider.

  • A good understanding of managed IT services, cloud hosting, connectivity, cybersecurity and related technology solutions.

  • Experience managing customer retention, contract renewals and recurring-revenue relationships.

  • A demonstrable record of generating additional revenue through upselling, cross-selling and account development.

  • Strong relationship management skills, with the confidence to engage senior IT and business decision-makers.

  • Good commercial awareness, including pricing, contract negotiations and profitability.

  • Experience using CRM systems to manage customer information, account plans, sales opportunities and forecasts.

You'll be someone who takes a proactive approach to account management. Rather than waiting for customers to get in touch, you'll maintain regular contact, understand what's changing in their business and identify opportunities before they arise.

You'll also understand the difference between managing the commercial relationship and delivering technical services, working closely with colleagues to ensure customers receive the right support.

Why consider this opportunity?

You'll be joining a well-established technology business with an existing customer base, a broad portfolio of IT services and experienced technical teams.

The role offers:

  • An established portfolio of customers to manage and develop.

  • Opportunities to grow recurring revenue through a comprehensive range of IT and cloud services.

  • A commercially focused position with clear responsibility for account development.

  • Access to experienced technical specialists who can support customer requirements and solution proposals.

  • The opportunity to build long-term customer relationships and contribute directly to the business's growth.

Remuneration: Proposed basic salary of £30,000–£40,000, with commission arrangements subject to confirmation.

The position is based in Wetherby, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
