We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Accountant to support FOLKS’ financial operations in Colombia. The ideal candidate has solid experience with Colombian accounting practices, tax compliance, and payroll management. They should also be comfortable working and communicating in both Spanish and English.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and manage the documentation required to maintain monthly accounting records.

• Prepare, analyze, and present bank reconciliations.

• Prepare and deliver financial statements according to the agreed schedule.

• Manage and review monthly payroll processes, as well as final payroll settlements for departing employees.

• Prepare and file monthly and annual tax obligations, including income tax, withholding tax, and Industry and Commerce Tax (ICA) returns.

• Prepare and submit exogenous information reports.

• Review and issue income and withholding certificates for employees, former employees, vendors, and clients.

• Maintain accurate depreciation and amortization records.

• Review purchase invoices and supporting documents.

• Submit supporting documents for domestic and international transactions in accordance with applicable requirements.

• Reconcile revenue, received invoices, and supporting documentation.

• Analyze general ledger accounts and support internal and external audits.

• Perform other duties related to the role or assigned by the direct supervisor.

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting or a related accounting field.

• At least 5 years of accounting experience in Colombia.

• Hands-on experience with Colombian tax compliance and tax filings.

• Experience managing payroll, including monthly calculations and final settlements.

• Knowledge of applicable Colombian accounting standards, tax regulations, and labor laws.

• Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with NetSuite or other accounting software.

• Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.

• Highly organized and able to work independently.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment.
