As our customer base continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our team and help ensure the quality and accuracy of our accounting services.

About the Role

As an Accounting Review Specialist, you will review accounting records prepared by our AI platform and operations team before they are delivered to customers.

You will play a key role in ensuring our GST returns, income tax calculations, payroll processing, and financial data meet New Zealand accounting and IRD compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review GST returns before submission.
• Review income tax calculations and supporting schedules.
• Review payroll records, PAYE calculations, and payroll compliance.
• Verify bookkeeping accuracy and financial data integrity.
• Identify discrepancies and recommend corrections.
• Work closely with our product and engineering teams to improve accounting workflows.
• Assist in developing accounting policies and review procedures.
• Provide feedback to improve AI-generated accounting results.

Requirements

• Accounting qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards and IRD requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing GST returns.
• Experience reviewing income tax returns.
• Experience with New Zealand payroll and PAYE compliance.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CA ANZ, CPA, or working towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Experience with Xero, MYOB, or other cloud accounting software.
• Experience working in an accounting firm or bookkeeping practice.
• Interest in AI, automation, and financial technology.
