About the Role
As our Actuarial Technical Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of actuarial modelling across the business. This is a specialist leadership role where you'll design, develop and enhance sophisticated actuarial models, deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, and champion best-practice modelling standards. You'll also act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders while mentoring and uplifting the technical capability of the broader actuarial team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and enhancement of actuarial models across pricing, forecasting, reserving and other actuarial functions.
  • Driving innovation by identifying opportunities to improve modelling efficiency, automation and analytical insights.
  • Establishing and maintaining technical standards, governance frameworks and model controls.
  • Delivering actuarial analysis, forecasting and reporting to support business and regulatory requirements.
  • Translating complex actuarial and technical information into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to strengthen actuarial modelling capability and technical expertise.

About You
You are an experienced actuarial professional with a passion for technical modelling and problem solving. You combine strong analytical capability with commercial acumen and can confidently navigate complex or ambiguous challenges. A natural collaborator, you're skilled at influencing stakeholders, sharing knowledge with others, and providing technical leadership that drives better business outcomes.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline, with progress towards at least AIAA designation (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant actuarial experience within insurance, including developing and implementing advanced actuarial models.
  • Strong technical expertise in actuarial modelling, statistical analysis and tools such as Python, R, SQL, Snowflake, Anaplan and Excel.
  • Experience applying advanced modelling techniques, including GLMs and ideally AI/ML methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and present complex insights clearly.
  • Proven ability to think critically, exercise sound judgement, work independently within your delegation, and mentor others while managing competing priorities.
