Our client is a US creative digital studio working at the intersection of music, culture and technology. Alongside client work for well-known consumer brands and national organizations, they build and run their own AI-native SaaS product in the music space.
They are looking for a part-time Technical Lead to work across both: owning client engineering engagements and taking shared ownership of the product codebase. This is a long-standing need — the founders are hands-on engineers who are now stretched across too many projects.
- Location: Fully remote
- Workload: Part-time, 20 hours per week
- Schedule: Minimum 4 hours of daily overlap with US Pacific Time
- Duration: Through February 2027, with potential extension
- Start date: As soon as possible
What you'll do:
- Own finite client scopes end to end, typically two to three weeks each, and plan ahead of them
- Set up the right architecture and codebase structure for client builds, including a security-constrained enterprise platform on AWS with Bedrock and multiple partner integrations
- Work on an MCP-first monorepo powering six AI agents with their own skills and tools, plus the UI layered over them — building features, fixing bugs, and pressure-testing scope against the product vision
- Take over and harden internal tooling, including a knowledge repository and purpose-built research and PM agents
- Come back to the team with real constraints: how long a build takes, how much QA it needs, what has to land first
- Join client kickoffs and working sessions as a technical voice
Must-have:
- 7+ years building software, with recent senior or lead experience
- Strong TypeScript, React and Next.js, with solid backend and API design in Node.
- Hands-on AWS, including Bedrock, and comfort standing up and securing cloud infrastructure (IAM, VPC, access control for enterprise clients)
- Genuinely AI-native: agent frameworks, tool and MCP design, and a considered agentic coding workflow
- Willing to own quality end-to-end, including your own bugs, without being chased
- Confident client-facing English, written and spoken
- Able to commit to a consistent schedule
Nice-to-have:
- Shopify or broader e-commerce build experience
- Supabase, Webflow, or working from Figma handoff
- LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks
- Large monorepo, refactor or migration experience
- Experience leading or delegating to other developers
What this role offers:
- Frontier AI work with a real roadmap: computer use is next, and a distilled in-house model is on the horizon
- A product in music and artist marketing, with campaign work for recognized artists and brands behind it
- Real ownership. Three principals, no PM layer, and an explicit invitation to push back on scope and phase the work
- Unusual variety: enterprise cloud architecture one week, an agentic product feature the next
- A part-time arrangement with scope to grow, including a direct-hire path if both sides want it
