Rebuild a live product from the ground up, with AI writing most of the code and you setting the standard for what ships.

Our client is an established, profitable software company within one of the world’s largest software groups. Their technology is used every day by thousands of public-sector organisations across North America.

They’re now rebuilding their core cloud platform from scratch on a modern Java, Spring Boot and AWS architecture, and every product they keep will move onto it. They’re hiring two engineers to help build it, and to help define how the whole team builds with AI.

What you’ll do

• Turn product requirements into clear specs and tasks an AI agent can execute
• Use Claude Code to build features end to end: Java services, UI, SQL and deployment
• Review, test and harden everything AI produces, treating it with the same scrutiny as any other code
• Use AI to map how the existing platform behaves, then rebuild it properly
• Debug and support services in production on AWS

What you’ll bring

• Strong, recent Java backend experience with Spring Boot (or JAX-RS)
• Hands-on AWS experience, including debugging services in production
• A real, day-to-day AI development practice: building with Claude Code or a similar agent, using things like CLAUDE.md files, plan mode, spec-driven development or custom skills, with a clear process for checking what the AI produces
• Comfort across the stack, including frontend work in Angular or React
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK
• Docker and Kubernetes experience, or the ability to pick them up quickly
• Based in the US or Canada, working from home, and able to commit to this as your only role

Nice to have: AWS Bedrock, PostgreSQL, ActiveMQ, C#/.NET or mobile, experience with legacy modernisation or platform rebuilds, and retail or point-of-sale software
