Job Summary:

To support our continued growth, we are looking for an AI IT Engineer to join our team in Aarhus, Denmark.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will play a key role in combining IT expertise with AI-driven automation to help shape and execute our AI-first IT strategy.

Job Description:

At Nexfeld Europe, AI is more than a tool, it is a mindset. We take an AI-first approach to drive innovation, automate processes, and create smarter solutions.

Join us and help shape the future of public transportation through technology and AI.

Nexfeld develops advanced software solutions that enable public transport operators and authorities to build smarter, more efficient, and sustainable mobility networks.

As part of the Modaxo family, we combine industry expertise with innovative technology to support public transportation across Europe.

About the Role

This role is built on a simple idea: instead of adding more people to manage repetitive IT operations, we leverage AI to do the work.

Ensuring reliable operations for our hosted customers is critical. We are therefore looking for a senior IT professional with broad infrastructure and operations experience and a strong interest in AI-driven automation.

You will design and implement automation across IT operations, security, service management, and device management, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and effective.

To match the requirements of the role, you will be expected to work from the office in Aarhus approximately three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

AI Automation & Orchestration

  • Design and implement AI-driven workflows for IT operations and support.
  • Build prompts, knowledge structures, and automation logic for AI agents.
  • Continuously improve AI performance through monitoring, testing, and feedback.
  • Define clear escalation paths between AI systems and human specialists.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, Claude, and similar technologies.

Knowledge & Infrastructure Management

  • Transform IT expertise into AI-ready knowledge bases, runbooks, and decision trees.
  • Maintain documentation for infrastructure, networks, systems, and configurations.
  • Define monitoring metrics, alerts, and anomaly detection criteria.
  • Support AI learning and optimization through structured incident and operational data.

Infrastructure, Security & Compliance

  • Validate AI-driven actions across server, network, cloud, and virtual environments.
  • Review automation outputs and refine workflows to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Support security monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 27001, GDPR, and internal governance standards.

End-User & Device Management

  • Develop AI-assisted onboarding, offboarding, and device management processes.
  • Implement intelligent provisioning and self-service support solutions.
  • Enhance Jira Service Management through AI-powered ticket classification, routing, and resolution.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and IT automation trends.
  • Pilot and evaluate new AI tools, platforms, and use cases.
  • Promote AI adoption and digital transformation across the IT organization.
  • Contribute to Nexfeld's AI strategy, roadmap, and future vision.

The role involves approximately 5-10 travel days per year.

Who We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you have experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or technical operations, combined with a passion for using AI to improve efficiency and scalability.

We expect you to have:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, networking, and firewalls.
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and IT monitoring tools.
  • Experience with AI-driven automation, workflows, and prompt design.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, endpoint protection, and access management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • The ability to evaluate and improve AI-generated outputs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, our corporate language.

Experience with PowerShell, Python, Azure, Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, Jira Service Management, or similar automation platforms is an advantage.
