Show job description
We're hiring an AI Learning Designer to write lessons for our AI masterclasses and lead the improvement of the AI-marked assignments that show whether learners actually change how they work.

This isn’t a traditional instructional design role. You won’t build e-learning modules or storyboard compliance courses. Our masterclasses pair short video lessons with role-specific assignments, built with prompts and marked by AI with immediate feedback. You’ll lead how we review and improve those assignments across our curriculum: what we ask learners to do, how we mark it, and whether it leads to meaningful outcomes.

You’ll also share ownership of our curriculum with our AI Learning Writer, split by AI provider, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot. For your provider, you’ll write the scripts and lessons, and keep them current as new features ship.

What you'll own

  • Assignment quality: Develop clear quality standards with the Head of AI Learning, then review, test and redesign our prompts, tasks and marking criteria using learning science and sound prompt engineering. Your first big project is auditing assignments across our masterclasses and delivering the agreed redesigns.
  • Your provider’s courses: Write scripts and demonstrations for new and refreshed courses. When your provider ships something that matters, test it yourself, decide what learners need to know, and update the course.
  • Our content management system: Run day-to-day publishing and maintenance, fix problems as they come up, and improve the agentic tools we use to manage content.
  • Learning objectives: Keep your provider’s objectives sharp, so what we teach, what we assess and what learners can do afterwards all line up.
  • Learning what works: Use submission, feedback, completion and drop-off data to judge whether an assignment does its job. AI handles much of the analysis. We need your judgement on what it means for learners and the business.

What we're looking for

We hire for aptitude, hunger and a bias to action over years of experience. This role works best for someone who thinks in outcomes, cares how people learn, and opens a new AI tool the day it launches. You might come from consulting, product, research, teaching, edtech or learning design itself.

You'll bring evidence of:
  • Sustained, hands-on use of AI: prompts that do real work, comfort with agentic tools, and a feel for where models are reliable and where they need checking
  • Thinking hard about how people learn, whether through teaching, tutoring, coaching or building training. You don’t need formal training in learning science, but you’ll want to go deep on it.
  • Thinking in outcomes and working rigorously: you define success, measure what matters and act on what you find, moving quickly while catching the details others miss
  • Clear writing that makes technical ideas simple without making them dull
  • Learning fast and taking ownership of finished work, to deadlines
Useful but not essential:
  • Experience in learning design, assessment, learning science or edtech
  • A background in consulting, product, research or similar analytical work
  • Experience evaluating AI outputs or designing marking rubrics
  • Experience with content management systems, automation or no-code tools
We know great candidates don't always tick every box. If the scope excites you and you think your experience could translate, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll get

  • A small, high-performing learning team, where everyone owns substantial work and what you build reaches hundreds of organisations in the UK and internationally.
  • Equity: Everyone at PAIR is offered equity, because we want everyone to share in what we build together.
  • Holiday: 25 days, plus bank holidays
  • Learning: access to the best AI tools and PAIR’s own masterclasses
  • A path to grow your career: we’re an early stage company that promotes from within. As we continue to scale, the opportunities to grow with us will only increase.
  • Regular social events: to celebrate the wins, unwind and enjoy the journey together!
The fine print
  • This role is hybrid, with 2 days per week in our central London office
  • We also come together for 7 company-wide Anchor Weeks each year (in person, Monday to Thursday).
Inclusion and adjustments
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Every candidate for this role is assessed against the same published criteria, by interviewers using the same core questions. If you need any reasonable adjustments at any stage - a different format, more time, or flexible scheduling - just let us know.
