ABOUT THE TEAM
Global Alpha’s primary objective is to generate excess return by targeting persistent and exploitable inefficiencies within capital markets. This is achieved through the development of specialized strategies across Active Equities and Alpha Alternatives. Excess return is pursued within a disciplined, risk-adjusted framework, primarily through security selection in diversified portfolios. Alternative investments such as hedge funds play a critical role in enhancing portfolio efficiency by improving the risk-return profile and providing diversification through exposure to strategies less correlated with the economy and with public markets. To broaden its capabilities, Global Alpha also partners with external managers who complement internal expertise.
Global Alpha’s Sustainability & Active Ownership function, which sits within Active Equities, provides governance and sustainability expertise and support across Global Alpha’s investment strategies. It also responsible for providing sustainability diligence and active ownership services to PSP’s entire public markets portfolio.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As an Analyst or Senior Analyst, Governance & Sustainability, Global Alpha, you will report to the Director, Sustainability & Active Ownership, and will be expected to demonstrate rigor, analytical discipline, consistent judgment, and financial acumen to contribute to stewardship and investment decisions. We are looking for someone who wants to understand a variety of corporate governance practices and investment practices in depth, and generate insights focused on financially material governance and sustainability factors, for the benefit of long-term value creation for PSP’s contributors and beneficiaries.
In this role, you’ll:
- Coordinate the end-to-end proxy voting process across PSP's public markets portfolio, including annual preparation of processes, tools and guidelines, workflow management throughout the proxy season and post-season reporting and debriefs
- Analyze selected votes, applying PSP's voting principles and guidelines, consulting with investment teams and coordinating with proxy advisors where relevant, preparing analysis and making recommendations on complex votes for decisionmakers
- Conduct governance and sustainability due diligence across companies, deals, and funds in the public markets portfolio, assessing material environmental, social, and governance factors to inform investment and stewardship decisions
- Monitor portfolio holdings and relevant market, regulatory, and sustainability-related developments on an ongoing basis, flagging emerging issues that warrant the team's attention
- Prepare briefing materials and research summaries that support senior team members’ engagement with companies, distilling relevant analysis into clear, actionable input
- Continuously improve the team's workflows, proactively identifying gaps and proposing process enhancements that increase efficiency and output quality
- Maintain and update internal procedures and methodologies to keep the team's practices well-organized and aligned with best practice, and act as the team's point of contact with reporting, data, and operations colleagues, ensuring information flows smoothly and requests are handled promptly and accurately
The final title will be calibrated based on experience; the expectations above remain the same.
We expect analysts to be fluent with large language models and modern AI research tools, and to use them regularly, within PSP’s governance and confidentiality standards, to automate workflows, interrogate reports, analyze data, and synthesize research in hours rather than days. What matters most is judgment: knowing where these tools help, where they fail, and how to verify the work before submitting it for senior review. We are looking for someone who can use AI to move faster without becoming less rigorous.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Robust educational foundation, with bachelor’s degree required and master’s degree preferred (in a relevant field such as sustainability, climate, finance, business administration, law, or a related discipline). Additional sustainability-related certifications are assets
- Demonstrated expertise through two (2) to four (4) years of relevant sustainability-related experience preferred, preferably with a strong foundation in corporate governance, although graduates with a strong background may be considered
- Robust understanding of financial concepts, for example demonstrated by progress toward the CFA designation, is an asset
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems
- Passion for corporate governance and sustainability topics, and willingness to continuously develop subject matter knowledge in specific areas as required by business needs

- Comfort building lightweight automations or workflows to improve work efficiency and quality, or willingness to learn
- Sound judgment and self-awareness, with the ability to know when to escalate and when to act independently, remain open to challenge, and recognize the limits of one's own analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
