As an Android Developer within the Car Hire Insurance & Flexibility Team, you will play a key role in enhancing mobile experiences that help customers protect car rentals and add flexibility to accommodation bookings. You will collaborate with Android engineers, designers, product managers, backend developers, and data analysts to build seamless, high-quality mobile experiences used by millions of travelers every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain new Android features using modern Android technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate with Android engineers and cross-functional teams to build seamless customer experiences across mobile platforms.
• Ensure application stability and reliability by monitoring crashes, investigating incidents, troubleshooting production issues, and resolving complex bugs.
• Participate in incident analysis and contribute to root-cause investigations when necessary.
• Continuously improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Optimize resource utilization and drive technical excellence across owned services and components.
• Keep applications aligned with the latest Android technologies, engineering standards, and development guidelines.
• Maintain high-quality standards through comprehensive testing strategies and strong code review practices.
• Perform application profiling, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance enhancements.
• Establish and monitor key performance metrics to ensure healthy app performance.
• Translate business requirements and product goals into scalable technical solutions.
• Prioritize technical issues based on customer impact and business value.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, quality engineers, designers, and analysts to enhance customer experiences.
• Support knowledge sharing, mentorship, and onboarding activities to help team members grow professionally.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have

• 3+ years of professional experience as an Android Developer.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin as the primary development language.
• Proven experience building production-ready user interfaces using Jetpack Compose.
• Strong understanding of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous and reactive programming.
• Experience with modern Android architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI, Jetpack ViewModel, and Navigation Components.
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger.
• Strong testing experience, including:
• Unit Testing
• UI Testing (Compose/Espresso)
• Screenshot Testing
• Experience working with multi-module Gradle projects.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges in high-scale environments.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of backend engineering principles and full-stack software development concepts.
• Experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and release planning.
• Experience with GraphQL, including queries, mutations, fragments, and schema design.
• Experience working within federated GraphQL environments.
• Hands-on experience profiling Android applications using:
• Android Studio Profiler
• Baseline Profiles
• Macrobenchmark
• Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the Google Play Store.
