Function description

• For an ongoing backend project, we are looking for a test engineer to identify and solve the gaps within testing. In this way, the test engineer must work towards a QA process that focuses on testing, reviewing & monitoring.

Your tasks consist of

• In the first phase: Managing debt testing
• Perform detailed analyses of the current test coverage of the system. (Including reviewing automated tests).
• Identify and document testing debt & testing gaps.
• Develop a plan to eliminate the current testing debt and increase overall test coverage and efficiency.
• Static testing of functional requirements documents
• Check the testability of the system (services, batches, ...). If necessary, start an improvement process, including describe the need for mocks, stubs & drivers.
• Identifying, contacting and questioning the stakeholders/three amigos for the various items under test.
• Collaborate with the test automators to create an automated regression set.
• Uncovering, analyzing and interpreting the discrepancies found between requirements, the system and the test cases.
• Formulating proposals for improvement to functional analyses and the system.

Reporting to management and clients on progress on testing debt & undesirable behavior within the system.

• In a second phase: Testing activities within an Agile SCRUM operation
• Review analysis documents
• Defining test cases
• Performing test cases and interpreting test executions
• Functional reviewen van user stories
• Review automated test cases

Ongoing

• Coordinate the test environment to ensure the availability of the material resources needed for the test project.
• Actively work with the project manager, the test coordinator and/or the management to ensure smooth communication about the integration of the test project into the overall project and in compliance with the company's quality strategy
• Proposing and defending the chosen test strategy
• Preparation and management of test reports
• Represent the "quality" values of the Test Competency Center within the project teams
• Coaching developers in test automation
• Coaching analysts to ensure testability
• Consulting with the test competency center

Profile

• In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tasks and processes. Having (a) ISTQB foundation or advanced certification(s) is a plus.
• Be familiar with the use of a test management tool, e.g. Testlink
• Be familiar with the use of an issue & project management tool, e.g. Jira
• Be familiar with using a content laboration tool, e.g. confluence
• Be familiar with test automation tools such as SOAPui, RESTassured, JUnit, Spring boot test, PostMan
• Basiskennis van development practices & test paradigms zoals continuous integration & TDD
• Basic knowledge of UML / BPMN
• Basic knowledge of Java
• SQL Basics
• Basic knowledge of git / svn
• Good relational skills
• Finally, you express yourself fluently in Dutch and French.
