Position Title: Applications Administrator
Office Location: 22 St. Clair Ave East, Toronto, ON
Hybrid Model: 2-3 days in office
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Application Support, the Applications Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance and support of financial, real estate, and other business and enterprise applications. The role will partner across the Technology team, assigned business lines, and third-party vendors to analyze issues and technical system needs, resolve business issues, and deliver effective business solutions. The role will also play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations, driving process improvements, and leveraging AI and automation to improve efficiency and optimize applications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and vendor partners to support business goals, operational efficiency, and effective issue resolution.
- Provide Level 2/3 application and data support for financial, real estate, and other enterprise applications, databases, Snowflake, and Power BI, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, SQL/data troubleshooting, reporting and refresh issues, connectivity problems, and system documentation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot applications, integrations, database jobs, interfaces, scheduled processes, runtime exceptions, and performance across the application, integration, database, and reporting layers, coordinating resolution with internal teams and vendors.
- Act as a technical lead for application enhancements and projects, supporting requirements gathering, solution design, testing, data validation, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes through integration, AI, automation, application capabilities, and emerging technologies, while minimizing operational impact and improving efficiency.
- Work closely with vendors and internal teams to manage support issues, escalations, product backlogs, incidents, and project activities, facilitating meetings and ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to anticipate issues, assess risks, recommend practical solutions, and support effective issue prevention and risk mitigation.
- Provide guidance, and technical support to team members while promoting knowledge sharing, leading practices, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Ensure applications and related changes comply with IT standards, governance, audit, security, and Change Approval Board (CAB) requirements, while maintaining a strong customer-service focus and timely communication with users.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a production support role supporting multiple applications and databases.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting SaaS platforms, JDE, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of SQL queries and relational databases.
- Proven track record in application automation, support, and delivery.
- Foundational to intermediate knowledge of Snowflake, integration layers, Synapse, and Microsoft Data Lake.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Power Platform, Power Automate, SharePoint, and JDE.
- Working knowledge of IT standards, methodologies, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and audit requirements.
- Working knowledge of PMWeb and OneStream is considered an asset.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex issues and communicate them clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in adding operational efficiencies at the process and systems level.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and flexible while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
