Our Client in the Financial sector is looking for an Architecture & Code Review Lead
Job Type - Contract
Work mode - Hybrid/Remote
Key Responsibilities
Conduct structured architecture and code reviews across the program on a fixed weekly/sprint cadence, with primary focus on the custom middleware integration layer
Evaluate configuration of the licensed digital banking platform against vendor documentation and industry best practice, distinguishing platform-inherent behavior from implementation defects
Review mobile application code (Android and iOS) for structural quality, maintainability, and long-term extensibility
Assess all components for technical debt, code quality, and adherence to maintainable design practices, in addition to functional correctness
Administer and maintain static code analysis tooling (e.g., SonarQube, Semgrep, or Checkmarx) as an ongoing quality gate integrated into the development workflow
Identify and formally document integration, reliability, and maintainability risks, with severity ratings and remediation recommendations
Escalate release-blocking findings to program leadership in writing, with sufficient lead time for remediation prior to code freeze
Produce review reports and status updates suitable for both technical delivery teams and non-technical program stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering or architecture experience
Minimum 4 years in a dedicated code review, architecture review, technical assurance, or quality engineering role (not incidental to a development or delivery role)
Demonstrated experience integrating a third-party or licensed software platform with an existing enterprise or banking environment (e.g., core banking, ERP, or comparable systems of record)
Demonstrated experience reviewing or working within microservices, containerized, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
Demonstrated experience reviewing mobile application codebases (Android and/or iOS)
Technical Skills
Static/automated code analysis tooling: SonarQube, Semgrep, Checkmarx, or equivalent, including configuration and governance of quality gates
API and middleware integration patterns (REST, SOAP, message queues, event-driven integration)
Cloud-native and containerized deployment models (Kubernetes, Docker, microservices)
Familiarity with at least one licensed core/digital banking platform (e.g., Finacle, Flexcube, T24, Mambu, Temenos, or equivalent)
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in mobile banking, payments, or financial services integration projects
Working knowledge of payment switch and card network integration (e.g., NIBSS, SWIFT, or equivalent national/international payment rails)
Application security awareness sufficient to identify and refer security concerns to a dedicated security review function
Formal certification in software architecture, quality assurance, or a recognized code review/quality methodology
Core Competencies
Ability to render and defend an independent technical judgment, including recommending a release delay, supported by documented evidence
Clear, structured written and verbal communication of technical risk to non-technical stakeholders
Independent, self-directed working style suited to a remote, fixed-deadline engagement
Sound judgment in distinguishing platform limitations from implementation defects
Success Criteria
All three program components (platform configuration, mobile application, middleware) reviewed on the defined weekly/sprint cadence for the duration of the engagement
100% of critical and high-severity findings documented and escalated prior to code freeze (15 October 2026)
Static code analysis tooling operational and integrated into the development workflow within the first two weeks of engagement
Final review sign-off report delivered to program leadership ahead of the 1 November 2026 go-live date
