🧭 Navigating the position: Area Sales Manager
We have a fantastic opportunity right now for an Area Sales Manager. If you have proven expertise and experience in Sales, knowledge of the Maritime environment and training products, and great leadership skills, we’d love to hear from you!

The primary responsibility for the role is to plan and manage the sales activities in the designated region. The person is to lead and direct the team to build a healthy order intake pipeline. The role involves overseeing competition, daily sales activities, managing customer accounts, meeting with clients, and promoting company solutions, products, and services to the market.

The role will be responsible for creating a culture of success, ongoing business, and goal achievement, as well as clear reporting on the region. The individual must have leadership skills and experience in order to be a role model for the employees and to motivate the team to deliver company objectives. The ability to engage teams and plan well ahead is required. Please note that travel across the region will be required when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Based upon company overall strategy, create tactics and strategies for developing business to achieve the set sales goals 
  • Ensure the company has a healthy order backlog
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting including per account (for major clients) approach plans 
  • Monitor market (customers and competitors) activity and provide feedback to company leadership team
Sales (as an individual contributor as well as managing direct reports to):
  • Promote OneOcean product portfolio to existing and prospect customers
  • Guide customers on which steps to take to sign a contract 
  • Upselling during customer communication sessions 
  • Collect and promote (internally) customer and market feedback 
  • Assist customers with finding the best person to address their problems in a timely manner 
  • Monitor tenders, RFPs etc. Manage and take ownership of the submission 
  • Oversee regional sales opportunities 
Reporting: 
  • Monitor the CRM records in the region and ensure there is a plan and actions taken against every sales opportunity 
  • Report on team performance, sales plans, and activities 
Marketing: 
  • Take part in local and international events as a participant, attendee, delegate, or presenter

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Fluent English spoken and written
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Several years’ experience in sales roles
  • Knowledge of the maritime environment and training products
  • Strong work ethic
  • Autonomous to fulfil tasks
  • Open to new technology and environment that is in a constant change
  • Strong business focus and mind set, high integrity, structured and good leadership skills
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
