Job Description
This is a remote position.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Behind every conserved artifact is a team making sure the right work happens at the right time. ProfessionLX is seeking a part-time Artifact Conservation Project Coordinator to support a National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) initiative preserving collections held by the Presidential Libraries and Museums. These collections—from gifts of state to personal belongings—offer a tangible connection to the people and events that have shaped American history.
You will bring organisation, clarity, and momentum to conservation projects across multiple institutions, working closely with NARA’s project team and library contacts. This role offers an experienced museum, library, or archives professional the opportunity to contribute to a national preservation initiative through a flexible, part-time commitment. Work is remote, averaging approximately 40 hours per month, with occasional in-person meetings as required.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will help the project team see the whole picture while keeping individual projects moving. By developing practical tracking tools and reporting templates, maintaining schedules, and staying in regular contact with project leads, you will make progress, upcoming milestones, and outstanding actions easy to follow.
Your ability to turn detailed information into clear, useful documents will be central to the role. Working with the project team, you will help draft statements of work for conservation vendors, prepare narrative and budget reports, and create presentations that explain what has been achieved and what comes next. You will also organise incoming vendor proposals and check them for completeness to support the team’s review.
Alongside the day-to-day coordination, you will help bring colleagues together to share the initiative’s work. This will include arranging project meetings and supporting conservation forums through scheduling, logistics, agenda planning, and presentation preparation. You may also contribute to outreach communications that help others understand the conservation work and its significance.
